The management DO NOT provide transport back to the office & that situation has been like that since the way foward cheated its way into our lives .
I know hes a prat so please dont tell me that again ,life for us posties is hard enough without the screws trying to pull more strokes .

TAXI for if he cannot get one for a reasonable price maybe he should consider doing that for a liveing maybe he would be better off doing that than this crap job!.

Surely if they are unwilling to provide transport, and since I don,t think delivery posties standard contracts of employment require owner drivers ,he just finishes delivery at a time that enables him to return to the office by public transport and within his contracted hours. It's really not his problem

I know its not going to help but surely if they expect him to take his bags then they should be providing the transport, either in a liveried official vehicle, or by paying him mileage allowance. Has the CWU Rep chain been brought into these discussions.
Employment law says that the employer must indemnify the employee against any loss suffered by the employee in performing the duties of the employment so your client is clearly obliged to make these payments but... since the revenue introduced the approved mileage rate relief for motoring expenses incurred by an employee owning their own car the repair, to the extent that it related to the employment is no longer available - everything from petrol and servicing to repairs is now included in the IR approved mileage rate calculation, the 40p a mile referred to below.

It is not his job to get the mail from the DO to the village. Get him to tell his DOM that he will take his car but no mail and await the bag at the village. This will give him the car at the end of the delivery to get back for his kid.

Your office is not the only one for in the courier (sh*t rag) this month's is article about heath an safety on page five with a h/s rep doing his round start at 10.30 finnish at 14.30 still out on del big no no 4 hour's delivery?.
