What if you're paired up with someone who wants their break in their duty time, before they go out or in the middle?moonjaguar wrote: ↑04 May 2023, 15:12Hi Martin
If I get lucky and my office is one of the early finish times of say 3pm, even that is still too late for the school run. However, if I could take my break at the end of my shift and sign out at the start instead of having to sign out at the end of the break, I could still pick the kids up. Has that been discussed?

Well said mate. Exactly how I feel. The Union should be ashamed of trying to sell this to us.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑04 May 2023, 16:24You really are giving that piece of Poo a good polishing Martin, they have obviously tasked you personally with trying to sell this to us on this forum.
I cant and wont change my mind on this agreement, its basically everything they wanted for next to nothing, and no matter how you try to make it sound i cant agree.
If we are expected after all we have been through for the last 3yrs, between pandemics and bitter disputes, to just forget the record profits and the nightmare revisions, executive action, the bullying and harassment, plus the smug bake of the CEO and his cronies bombarding us with propaganda, to just accept more of the same from our union in a attempt to get us to vote yes.
I respect myself more and consider myself and my fellow posties worth more than what you are peddling.
So its a NO from me.
I have to say that i still find it hard to see how the union can justify what they are doing to the members and i think in the long run it might just come back and bite you. But then what do i know i am but a humble postie.

I'm by myself with a trolley in the suburbs where there is nowhere to take a break. The union should be doing all it can to address the school pick up problem. Taking your half an hour break at the end and not having to return to the office to sign out seems a very simple solution.pieoftheday wrote: ↑04 May 2023, 19:38What if you're paired up with someone who wants their break in their duty time, before they go out or in the middle?moonjaguar wrote: ↑04 May 2023, 15:12Hi Martin

I thought you could take a 30 minute break at the end, it's if you're due 40 then it has to be taken as a 40 or can be split into 2 X 20 but only 20 can be taken at the end, not too sure about your other point of not returning to the office though.moonjaguar wrote: ↑04 May 2023, 20:17I'm by myself with a trolley in the suburbs where there is nowhere to take a break. Don't you need to return to the office to drop off your PDA and any undelivered mail/parcels/specials?moonjaguar wrote: ↑04 May 2023, 20:17I'm by myself with a trolley in the suburbs where there is nowhere to take a break. Martin, is there any reason why this current deal only lasts for 2 years?Martin Walsh wrote: ↑04 May 2023, 09:47Now in terms of flogging a dead horse I have contributed to this sites for longer than most and I have seen similar opposition to new agreements whether that was Pay and Mod , BT 2010 , Agenda for Growth , 4 Pillars or even the Pathway for change where people thought Sunday working was compulsory. They all were supported by the vast majority.
It does seem like an incredibly short time. In the past the company had 5 year plans.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

We want earlier start and finishing times not later. Keep sick pay as it is. And an improved pay deal. And negotiaters with balls.

Re: Worth reviewing Royal Mails original proposals
Currently we normally return to the office at 1.30pm. End time is 2pm. Instead of scanning out and taking our break on the way home or to school, we have to stand around in a grubby office for half an hour and then scan out. But we can still do the school pick up. If they make the finish time 3pm, instead of 2pm as it is now, and they make us scan out at 3pm, we cannot make the school pick up making the job pointless.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑04 May 2023, 20:29I thought you could take a 30 minute break at the end, it's if you're due 40 then it has to be taken as a 40 or can be split into 2 X 20 but only 20 can be taken at the end, not too sure about your other point of not returning to the office though.moonjaguar wrote: ↑04 May 2023, 20:17I'm by myself with a trolley in the suburbs where there is nowhere to take a break. I don't get the "only x% of units will actually see the full time change" nonsense, why is this supposed to be good? I'm not going to vote yes because I'm in an area where I know I'm less likely to get pushed to such insane finish times, at the expense of those who are, that just isn't unity.

Re: Worth reviewing Royal Mails original proposals
So I left the business a few weeks ago, but checked back to see how things were going.
I see this thread "worth reviewing RM's original proposals"
Surely it is worth considering, if RM had originally proposed the deal that the union are currently recommending, is there a chance in hell that the union would not have (rightly) condemned it as derisory? This deal is a pathetic sell-out by a union that has been worse than amateurish throughout the dispute.
What will happen if you guys reject the deal? Who knows! If, however, you accept this surrender deal then you absolutely know that RM will be back for far more than this in 2 years time and the union will do nothing at all to oppose them.
Stand strong brothers.

Re: Worth reviewing Royal Mails original proposals
We might well not have a job worth doing in 2 years if we don't accept the offer, it's not like RM are going to say:
"We've lost the war, let's forget the revisions, reinstate all the suspended union reps and increase the pay rise by a few %"
More likely they'll impose even harsher revisions and suspend even more staff.

Good move, make it literally physically impossible to do a days work and have nobody to even try. Newcomers in our place have already leftTopperGas wrote: ↑06 May 2023, 19:23We might well not have a job worth doing in 2 years if we don't accept the offer, it's not like RM are going to say:
