I work 4 days a week. 8 hours a day all year round. Can someone tell me how my seasonal variations will work?
I imagine you would work 6 hours in the summer and 10 hours in the busy winter period ,
Your pay would stay the same all year round at 8 hours per day .
How the hell does that work? That means full timers work 2 hours extra a week and i work 8 hours extra a week!!!

It's got to mean later starts for DOs if it gets brought in to MCs. Shifts in MCs end when final dispatches go out to make it longer hours in a MC it'd have to be added to the end of the shift

Just seen your post - you've probably sussed it by now but if not - it's 2 hours per week (not per day!) based on a five day
attendance, so your working hours might be 4/5 of 2 hours less over a week in summer (if that's how they're going to work it out and keep it simple in your scenario - I'm guessing here!) which is 96 minutes less over 4 days (still 24 mins/day), then 24 mins/day more in Winter.
Also I'm assuming you don't do shorts and longs (as you say you work 8 hours/day all year round).

There's so many different shift patterns/contracted hours that the one size won't fit all and it'll be down to local
managers ( ) to implement it correctly/fairly.

So if a full timer has 2 weeks leave booked this winter within the 39hr window then that leaves us owing RM 4hrs. The next period is the 6 month 37hrs variation.

Surely it would be either fairer to start all this seasonal hours (pending on the vote) in April when the holiday period starts with the new financial year or to give an amnesty for holidays already booked this winter at 37hrs.

Have they even thought this through properly?

This is how they'll pay for the pay rise. We are effectively giving away hours from our holidays for nothing.

seasonal variation and an extra 24 mins a day will make no difference,im cutting off 1hr 50 mins a day now going into the quiet period, next summer i'll be cutting off over 2 hours and probably the same in winter, you couldn't make it up ,who comes up with these delusional ideas's and the union are just as stupid signing up to it,god help us all run by bafoons.

I wonder if the CWU have even checked whether this arrangement is legal?

RM would effectively be withholding pay, so could an employee take the company to a tribunal?

It would certainly look odd for any employment expert to see hours 1-37 paid, nothing for hours 37-39, but then anything over 39 to also be paid!

What happens if you decide to leave/retire at the end of this financial year (or anytime before the 35 hour 'equalisation' next summer)?
Will RM pay you the 2 hours p/w owed? Will they pay you what you actually worked of those two hours or will they check SISO?
None of this has been mentioned.......

I asked my manager this, he said I'm sure they will. Asked my rep, he said if we vote yes then the CWU can ask RM.

Its a breach of contract ,and definitely illegal not to pay you for 8 months no matter what they tell you,its worth seeking legal representation outside of the union because they are facilitating this illegal process.
