Thompson wins
Hate to say it but Thompson has achieved everything he set out to do, all changes implemented by EA, he has he union split in two, he appears to have backed them into a corner with the threats of stopping senior reps paid release and stopping subs coming direct out of our wages (both of which are magically now not happening) and before anyone defends this by saying it’s self preservation, the unions role is to protect and fight for its members rights not their personal interests. As hated as he may be, well played mr Thompson, mission accomplished

Re: Thompson wins
That's exactly what it sounds like to me and the issue is royal mail can play that card over and over again.
They should be supporting us so that we are all in it together. Not preserving their status and privileges as reps, divisional, branch or otherwise

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Thompson wins
He will be remembered for destroying a well respected company and reducing it to a low paid workforce with no respect for management and no pride in there job anymore ,Clairedarep wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 10:34Hate to say it but Thompson has achieved everything he set out to do, all changes implemented by EA, he has he union split in two, he appears to have backed them into a corner with the threats of stopping senior reps paid release and stopping subs coming direct out of our wages (both of which are magically now not happening) and before anyone defends this by saying it’s self preservation, the unions role is to protect and fight for its members rights not their personal interests. A lot of good staff have left and more will be leaving soon ,
They will soon be employing only the useless and the desperate ,
any good people coming into the job will soon leave again once they see how badly staff are treated ,
Expect a very high turnover of staff which itself is costly and makes no business sense .
All in the pursuit of sheer greed for himself and fellow managers , they have no decency , no respect , no sense of fairness .
I would rather be a decent person than have all the money Thompson has .

Re: Thompson wins
Yeah and no his job is done it wouldn’t surprise me if he leaves soon or steps down. Both parties will then pretend to build trust back up with a new CEO but nothing will change.Clairedarep wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 10:34Hate to say it but Thompson has achieved everything he set out to do, all changes implemented by EA, he has he union split in two, he appears to have backed them into a corner with the threats of stopping senior reps paid release and stopping subs coming direct out of our wages (both of which are magically now not happening) and before anyone defends this by saying it’s self preservation, the unions role is to protect and fight for its members rights not their personal interests. Re: Thompson wins
Although I get your sentiment I don’t agree, Thompson and co set out to get rid of CWU from the workplace. They have not done that YET.Clairedarep wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 10:34Hate to say it but Thompson has achieved everything he set out to do, all changes implemented by EA, he has he union split in two, he appears to have backed them into a corner with the threats of stopping senior reps paid release and stopping subs coming direct out of our wages (both of which are magically now not happening) and before anyone defends this by saying it’s self preservation, the unions role is to protect and fight for its members rights not their personal interests. Vote yes or no Royal Mail is now the same as other cheap companies like Aldi,Lidl, Evri, Amazon with a high turn over of staff and easly replaceable, where unmotivated or desperate staff work until they can't take it anymore leave and start again at the next job. Most people don't leave these jobs because of the money but the way they are treated you can only do hard manual labour at unsociable hours for so long. It's like we have gone back to victorian times.77SAMPOST77 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 11:02He will be remembered for destroying a well respected company and reducing it to a low paid workforce with no respect for management and no pride in there job anymore ,Clairedarep wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 10:34Hate to say it but Thompson has achieved everything he set out to do, all changes implemented by EA, he has he union split in two, he appears to have backed them into a corner with the threats of stopping senior reps paid release and stopping subs coming direct out of our wages (both of which are magically now not happening) and before anyone defends this by saying it’s self preservation, the unions role is to protect and fight for its members rights not their personal interests. I seriously won't be surprised, a few years from now, to find a Royal Mail Special Delivery sitting soaking wet on my doorstep when I get back from whatever job I am forced to go to.

Re: Thompson wins
People like Thompson have no conscience, he’s done what the major shareholder explained in the job description and will happily accept his golden handshake with glee.
Whatever becomes of this ballot, you need an overhaul of the senior representatives within CWU.

Re: Thompson wins
From what I know and have seen of Mr Thompson you give him far too much credit. It’s the unions mass incompetence and inability to capitalise and get us a reward on the pandemic profits combined with Royal Mails incompetence that’s brought this about.
