Re: Tony Bouch - PEC Member in a personal capacity
I don't know how the CWU agreed that sick pay 'deal'..... I thought they were on our side....
I am pretty much guaranteed to lose at least £100 a year in sick pay. I have averaged 2 genuine short absences per year since joining Royal Mail. My attendance overall is very good.
From Royal Mail's perspective, they may be giving us a 10% pay rise overall, but they only paid us 2% extra in 2022/2023, and now they know they will be making massive savings from not having to pay sick pay. I wouldn't be surprised if it essentially equates to them actually giving us an 8% pay rise overall after they make the sick pay savings. So from their perspective - they are laughing.
When this tax year ends, over the previous 2 years they would have paid us an average of 6% with a load of 'cash back' from posties being off sick. A wonderful deal for them. Essentially equating to a 5% pay rise over 2 years from their perspective.

Tony Bouch like many of the PEC members that have released statements to similar effect or videos saying they support the agreement actually partook in the negotiations in some capacity which is why the PEC were never gonna go against the agreement.

Another one parroting Royal Mail in using the term “paid at SSP” rather than “unpaid”
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

The sick pay /attendance policy and IHR is a MASSIVE change to our terms.
Inflation was over 10% LAST YEAR and is currently in double figures!
10% pay increase over three years (minus 2% we have got already) is a pretty poor deal.
The flexi time of 30 mins is very unclear (adding the to the later finishing times may not suit those who have family responsibilities).
Performance tracking, Your PDA app (yes it’s on already) basically tells you to move faster “cause we think your are a lazy bastion”.
I feel something is strange about this endorsement ,how about you?

What is really annoying is that no national officer is even taking the time to address why members are really unhappy with this agreement. They are more concerned with selling this agreement with the hard sell over the coming weeks. Even the reps had a day out in Birmingham yesterday. They say individual branches will decide supporting or not this agreement, but that is stretching it. Now the NEC/PEC have endorsed it, a forgone conclusion.

I totally agree with your post. I think RM have acted appalingly in this dispute. They have also outmanouvered the CWU at every turn. The CWU have endorsed this deal because I think the negotiators have been made fully aware of RMs financial position which is asset rich but cash poor. Yes I'm angry, we all are. Yes vent your anger on this site. BUT don't cast your vote in anger whether you vote NO or YES.rambo1 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 06:43I'd just like to ask. What is the outcome of a no vote? What will this achieve or not?
Genuine question and an answer to which we all need to make a balanced considered decision to vote yes or no.
It is a bad deal by comparison to any other we have had but is it the lesser of two evils?
They can mess around with revisions, put as much extra work on me as they want, I come in on time, work correctly, have break and go home on time. Everyone has got to remember this is what they can do too.

How did the meeting go yesterday in Birmingham?
I'm guessing just like the meeting in Bristol .like a lead balloon.
They don't even want to speak to us via Facebook live or YouTube live .there running scared of there own members .
Here have a podcast .not good enough.
Here have several 3 minute twitter videos .
Not good enough.
Vote no and remove the enemy within the cwu ,remove Dave ward ,furey and the shysters on pec .

Re: Tony Bouch - PEC Member in a personal capacity
I think the CWU have been told by RM of it's perilous financial position which they cannot pass on because it would break confidentiality rules. If CWU hadn't endorsed the deal would RM have entered administration, withdrawn the offer and laid off thousands? RM is asset rich but cash poor. If the dispute carries on, strike action is called and RM do enter administration it will not be able to raise capital until the administrator sorts out all RMs problems. What that would mean is anybody's guess.iHateD2Ds wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 08:13The sick pay /attendance policy and IHR is a MASSIVE change to our terms.

Cannot see how financial confidentiality rules will apply??
Royal Mail has to lay bare its entire financial position not only to the regulator and City, but also the report to the annual General Meeting which is in the public domain

Re: Tony Bouch - PEC Member in a personal capacity
Do you genuinely believe the CWU leadership have colluded with RM to stitch up the workforce in order to save their jobs? Yes the CWU have been outmanouvered at every stage and their tactics were probably wrong but that can be changed. Whatever a NO vote brings cannot be changed. By removing individuals from the CWU, RM will not re-enter negotiations and start negotiating the whole deal all over again. Don't make your vote in anger whichever way you decide.77SAMPOST77 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 09:57Totally agree , VOTE NO .hfcbkk1875 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 09:52How did the meeting go yesterday in Birmingham?

Yeah I noticed that. His body language said all that needed to be said. He had his body turned through most of it like he had something to hide. Think they knew long before that this dispute is dead in the water. All the talk and provado especially during the committee quickly evaporated when it came to the ultimate decision that Ofcom would actually have to sort it out and we all know how useful they are.norm wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 02:49It was obvious what was happening when DW did a live session back in March where his tone and language changed entirely to one of being mild mannered and meek, they've been plotting this since then.
But as for the union going all guns blazing back in 2022 drawing lines in the sand etc, I think this has just made the current situation worse for the union, as everyone feels let down.

I'll be voting NO
It's a sell out by the CWU and if it gets voted in, I'm coming out the union. They don't deserve our support

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Most company accounts operate a year behind. Yes they give quarterly updates but a lot of these don't tell you about cash in the bank. RM have huge values in assets but due mainly share giveaway dividends it is probably asset rich and cash poor. The confidentiality I refer to is that CWU would not not be allowed to use this information. Yes you can find all this if you look for the information but how many people do.
