The ssp thing is admittedly a bit harsh. Ssp for first two days is effectively 0 isn't it due to stat rules. But at least they've targeted the people that go off with a runny nose or headache rather than people that actually need the help
Don’t you agree though that making stage reviews stricter would have been enough? The union have allowed Royal Mail to completely blitz the sick policy with this agreement.

Yes and this is the sort of thing that should and can be conceded by RM if they are as desperate for a deal as the union claimed they are
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

3 periods of absence is enough to trigger an attendance review in any large business.
And no I'm sorry... people do take the piss
Complete bollox.

The majority of "people" do not take the piss. They go off sick when they are sick. This sick policy is designed by executives who are convinced that lazy posties are stopping them pocketing a few extra quid.

It's not even necessary to "save" RM from "administration". It's just spiteful and vindictive.

A minority of people in any business anywhere go sick when they are not. That's not a reason to punish everyone.

The majority don't abuse the system. The majority also don't take 3 sickness absences a year.
So royal mail are going after the minority aren't they no??

A "runny nose" or "headache"? You mean heavy cold or migraine? Both of those things make you unfit for a heavy physical job.

I'd rather they didn't touch it... but they have..
We're crying over spilt milk. This sick pay change is coming yes or no.
I'm just saying I don't feel it's that big a deal cos I don't get close to infringing the new rules and if I did its a small price to pay. And if I was seriously ill I'd still get very good long term sick pay.
I don't see the big issue, sorry if some people need to take more time and feel offended, but as I said previously I'm sure the union would back you, it's the one thing they're good at

No... I mean a runny nose or a headache. They are mild illnesses you wouldn't dare ring your boss with.
People suffering heavy cold or migraine are entitled to ring in with their issue, totally different to a runny nose

No one rings in sick with a runny nose you balloon.

I never said that.

I said the majority are real, and designing a sick system based on the assumption that most are fake is nasty, vindictive, unecessary, and punishing those in poor health the most.

There is a chance you are correct. However in a system where union reps defend the worst offenders and also abuse the system themselves to great effect, do you not think some change should be made somehow.. not necessarily this one

Yes , the review stages , that would have been acceptable, this policy isn’t.

Yep a change needs to be made to reduce sickness. Make the job less stressful by stopping management harassment, ease the physical demands by resourcing offices properly and having a limit on outdoor delivery spans, build in proper rest periods to duty rotations, and make it easier to take leave rather than this ridiculous thing of filling a form out 18 months in advance,
