Union selling the deal ?
Many offices had their area reps in to sell us this agreement ? Very quiet at mine , I think they’re scared of the backlash.

Shop floor CWU reps must be having nightmares going into the workplace on duty.
Ivory towers are expected them to sell a rotten fish.

Re: Union selling the deal ?
Yeah I’m talking more the area reps , these guys have always been straight down to tell us how great the deal is and vote yes, not a peep from them as yet .mightyowler wrote: ↑25 Apr 2023, 15:22Shop floor CWU reps must be having nightmares going into the workplace on duty.

The union are trying to save their own pathetic existence rather than protecting our interests, what they must understand protecting our interests will protect them, without us there is no union.

Re: Union selling the deal ?
The CWU have negotiated what it thinks is the best deal that it can get. They have been privvy to RM financial information that we as members have not. Yes RM have outmanouvered the CWU at every turn but do you really think the CWU would deliberately stitch us up just to save their own jobs? I don't.guardianangel wrote: ↑25 Apr 2023, 15:29The union are trying to save their own pathetic existence rather than protecting our interests, what they must understand protecting our interests will protect them, without us there is no union.

Re: Union selling the deal ?
I’m really not sure what people actually expected out of this deal. It’s was obvious from the start later start time where incoming and we were never getting an inflation matching pay rise.timbo1234 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2023, 16:54The CWU have negotiated what it thinks is the best deal that it can get. Reading through the deal and I agree it not great but it also isn’t as bad as some are making out.
I think the union have done their best while having one armed tied behind their back by anti trade union laws, the companies financial position and the economy in general.
Personally I would rather have the union still represent us in the workplace. If they aren’t there then it will be a free for all.

What do you think is good in the deal that will make you vote for it ? Or is it a case of “ it could have been worse “.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2023, 17:06I’m really not sure what people actually expected out of this deal. Re: Union selling the deal ?
Sadly probably the latter. I’m still undecided on how I will vote on the deal.chickenwittle wrote: ↑25 Apr 2023, 17:27What do you think is good in the deal that will make you vote for it ? At beginning of dispute I remember Royal Mail saying to union they were stopping union subs from pay packet direct debits would have to be set up.
Just wondering if this is still happening?

Would be surprised if RM didnt actually cover everyone's dues with the state of this agreementTimetomoveon wrote: ↑25 Apr 2023, 19:57At beginning of dispute I remember Royal Mail saying to union they were stopping union subs from pay packet direct debits would have to be set up.

Other deals in the past gave us some positives like the SWW and a pay rise. EVERYTHING in this deal gives us just reduced T&C, for a pay deal that by 2025 will likely be 16 to 22% below inflation over the 3 year period, but depending on how the economy goes could be much worse.
Ironically most would have probably been happy with a 9% pay deal (still well below inflation) from 2022 (ie 7%now backdated) with most of those conditions.
After all, don't forget, the company has given itself a pay rise of 13% last year and 16% this year.
