I don't think it would have bothered them if we were on strike 2 days or a month. They paid upfront for casuals, vans and managers to do the work and they were paying them whether we were striking or not. Christmas 2021 (when they saved money by not hiring temp staff or extra vans) showed that RM do not care at all about mail backlogs, or even undelivered trackeds... We still had Christmas cards coming through in the February.
Striking lost us money, and though it lost RM money as well RM is run by people with enough of it not to care if the company succeeds or fails. Most workers have to care, at least a bit

It was forced to protect its relevance within the workplace, nothing more nothing less.
I genuinely feel for the shop floor reps explaining this proposal I really do.

If you think that Ward and Fury are competent enough to understand EBITDA, forward earnings, debt overload then you need to give your head a wobble. But oh - they have accountants to do that for them. Do they now? Accountants with the same level of competence as their legal team?timbo1234 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2023, 08:57The CWU have endorsed the best deal it can get because RM have made clear it's financial position. The CWU have seen the books. RM are asset rich but cash poor. If the CWU endorsed a no vote and RM went into administration with the loss of thousands of jobs there would be fury among the membership. If you think that RM and the CWU have colluded in this agreement to "stitch up the workforce" then nothing will convince you to change your mind.
Collusion my be too strong of a word - the reality is that R.M have twisted the CWUs proverbial arm up its own back to the point of twisting it off:-
Attacks on reps
No longer collecting subs directly
and the latest allegation - threatening to wipe out release payments to CWU senior reps
Peope saying we have been shafted. The CWU have been shafted and no longer in any position to protect us.

Is that true regarding the release payments and no longer collecting subs? Was that in the deal anywhere?stevejm wrote: ↑25 Apr 2023, 14:16If you think that Ward and Fury are competent enough to understand EBITDA, forward earnings, debt overload then you need to give your head a wobble. It wouldn't be in the deal would it?
The subs has been continuously mentioned for months.
See the latest thread by Clairedarep titled 'Martin Walsh' - its an unfounded allegation - but if true it stinks
as they say, always follow the money trail

I remember the company giving legal notice about collecting subs, so that was a thing for sure. Dont know if they will backtrack that if they get a yes vote.

Interesting…. I wasn’t aware of that. CWU really are under pressure now…
I guess members would have to set up their own direct debit.
And ‘always follow the money trail’ reminds me of Jesse Ventura for some reason!

Never mind there's hardly any mail nowadays .... all those bloody letters, magazines, catalogues & brochures in my frame must be a mirage! And don't you even go there with your dropping figures in the Mail Centre SP!![]()
It's not unusual now to have a couple of times a night where small Tracked and small packets completely run out of work

We still have plenty of Mail IN DELIVERIES I don't know (or care) what you think is happening in the MC it's coming from somewhere! Just because we have a dead Monday it's catching up later in the week. If your blokes are running out of work perhaps you should be sending them to the nearest DO and give them a hand Delivering all this non existent mail?
