Re: My summary of the deal.
So you can GURANTEE that RM will not enter administration can you? I take it you think the government will step in and bail out RM? The government don't care about people dying due to industrial action in the NHS so they certainly won't worry about undelivered letters and parcels. The price of any bail out will be mass redundancy and a shredding of our T&Cs. A no vote will end this company as we know it and the changes will be forced through whatever.postslippete wrote: ↑22 Apr 2023, 18:14You're deffo off with the fairies mate if you believe everything that Royal Mail tell youjahbalon wrote: ↑22 Apr 2023, 02:35No deal is perfect lets face it, but this is a good deal, and one that we should accept, and see it as
a victory for postal workers and the CWU. For that is what it is.
A no vote would play right into the hands of Royal Mail and give them the cast iron excuse
to go in administration.
And we all know what that means for all of us, the DOLE![]()
Catastrophe does not even cover it![]()
Its a sh*te deal for posties and thats all there is to it. Vote NO
"A cast iron excuse to go in administration" - what f***ing planet are you on??![]()

For a start, the later starts and finishes won't come into effect until next year. The new sick absence procedure won't start until August this year. In the meantime the company have already made revisions and have been lapsing duties continually deliberately failing the USO on a daily basis for the last six months whilst not paying any overtime to clear the backlog until theres at least 5 days of mail and the frame look as if a bombs hit it.
Please don't listen to the new stooges that are on here that set up accounts and are pro-Royal Mail.... Vote NO!!

No - What I can GUARANTEE is that if this deal goes through then a lot of posties will either end up leaving anyway and the Union will lose a substantial part of its postal membership.
What Royal Mail are threatening is blackmail and the company have blamed strike action for all its financial troubles. Do you really believe this to be the case or do you think it might just be gross mismanagement by the Royal Mail board??
Financial figures seem to be quoted all over the place so I can only take them with a pinch of salt - a bit like our traffic forecasts. lol
Before the company could be placed into administration it would need approval from the government. Do I think that the government will step in and bail out RM? Well, considering that governments don't like to run companies and that RM prefer to keep running down the letter service its not unfeasible that they might allow the company to water down the USO if it meant financial survival. It could alter the terms for companies that provide downstream access.
IDS have also threatened a group split and sell off GLS if they don't get their own way - but I don't think this would be easy and it might not receive shareholder support. But in all of this, let me ask you a hypothetical question - If someone was going to stab you in the back because they asked you to do something that you really didn't agree with, would you still do what they asked?? Because that is what the company is doing right now.
A close examination of whether Royal Mail are still really losing a million quid a day needs to be re-examined imho because this is what they are threatening us with. There are many other ways to save on costs in a company the size of Royal Mail rather than just attack posties terms and conditions.....
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

RM are saying they need to attack us for our own good.
We can't accept it.

Voting no on this. Too many concessions being sold to us as good things that will help the business. Annualised hours and flexitime need to be scaled back to the minimum. As it stands we’ll all be expected to work nearly an hour a day more this winter for a half hours overtime! Then if there’s a busy day next summer we will be forced to go over half hour because our shifts are starting later due to seasonal hours. Can’t accept all that.

Anyone what is the agreement regarding mtsf. We know upto 6000 ppl have agreed to go based on 9 month pay and good luck to them, but going forward for the rest is the two year Vr payment protected/buy down payment travel money all that stuff. Can't find anything on that.

Re: My summary of the deal.
There was a big kick off last time when the start and finish times changed and DTD payments for each item were stopped, but the deal was eventually voted in.
Fast forward and a big kick off is happening again. This vote might be as close as brexit, but when enough people finally realise that nothing ever stays the same in life then this deal will be voted in as well.

Re: My summary of the deal.
Basically the terms are the same but the payment has changed to ie statutory redundancy pay max 30 weeks but there is a calculator by RM as it depends on service and age but max is 30 weeks. Buy down long gone missed the bus as to travel money don't know just get them to take you get you back or bill them for the taxi!DX wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 13:07Anyone what is the agreement regarding mtsf. Re: My summary of the deal.
Our SPDO's already have a finish time of 1630 following EA revisions that were supposed to be put on pause. So are you saying theyMartin Walsh wrote: ↑21 Apr 2023, 22:08Norris not every unit will finish at 16:30.
The agreement is quite clear the majority of the 1250 delivery units will finish before 15:30 , the vast majority by 16:00.
The joint working groups which will over see it will be seeing that you move up to one hour from your current start times. Only if that cannot be achieved is the default of 90 mins deployed for that unit.
Royal Mail are ceasing 18 flights which will mean that work will get into delivery offices later and they wanted a much cheaper window of up to 3 hours later.
We have stopped that but other than striking to force Royal Mail to use airplane to carry mail from remote scotland , Cornwall then you cannot keep start times the same. However we have significantly modified it.
can look forward to having another hour added on to that?!!
'Hey ho never mind them, they're out in the sticks' is what their perception of CWU HQ's view is.

Re: My summary of the deal.
The government would end up indirectly being forced to bail out RM when MPs find their constituents getting pissed off about having to pay probably something like £4-5 minimum to send a single letter

Well £1.10 is shocking when you can do most of that by email now and most now do just that.LouBarlow wrote: ↑13 May 2023, 05:15How is £1.10 and 75p ‘not far off’ £4?
