It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

May I suggest not calling the guy that owns and pays for this site pathetic and fanatical, its just not polite.cantypeANDSHOUTS wrote:
truely pathetic...i fear the fanatics will never understand plain english.
Some of it I do. I do not slavishly follow the Union, but nor will I slavishly follow Royal Mail, when either side IMHO get it wrong I hope I speak up and say so,cantypeANDSHOUTS wrote:try to forget what youve been told to say by the wonderful union .
Even in your sentence you show how you save them money. If you take a car out to your first drop you are saving them either public transport fares, or if you are normally taken out then you saving them mileage in their own vehicles and on duty time so they can add more to that drivers duty. If you use a Mailstar Bicycle then you are saving them wear and tear.cantypeANDSHOUTS wrote:if i turned in my bike and drove my own car i still fail to see (unlike you lot of mystic megs)how it saves them money.it would cost me money .obviously but i wouldnt have made that choice..
Umm its a forum for discussion why call it a rant just because you don't agree with the majorities position. Kudos for you arguing your point, however, you may have more converts if you stopped insulting opposing views. In fact everyone would do better to do the same.cantypeANDSHOUTS wrote:i get to my start point do my round and i can either finsh early, which yes if done regularly may make some think he could do more) or go off and do something useful and get back later.savings for them in both is nothing....but you lot cant stop the rant....
I will forgive you for what you have said as I think you are preaching from an uninformed view. Please correct me if I am wrong but you started at Royal Mail after the strikes. Well our position of not using cars, not taking out overweight bags, taking the correct breaks etc, has come about because AL and AC before the strikes called us Lazy and Overpaid and that we were not flexible. Well when every postie I know who could take their cars, did do so, when most did not take their breaks, when most took out heavy bags every day, when most came in early and stayed late to make sure that the mail was delivered it was a kick in the teeth to be called lazy and overpaid. Now they want flexibility - well before the aforementioned comments every postie I know was being flexibile.cantypeANDSHOUTS wrote:thell put more on your round......BULLSHIT TOSS POTS(POSTIES WORDS SO MUST BE ALLOWED)THEY'LL HAVE TO BE TIMED ALL OVER AGAIN AND BE BACK TO SQAURE ONE..SO LAY OFF THE SCARE TACTICS TO GET OTHERS TO TRY THEIR BEST TO f**k UP THEIR OWN JOBS WHILE I BET YOU GUYS ARE ALWAYS FIRST IN ,YES SIR NO SIR...
YOU LOT ARE SO DELUDED I FEEL YOU WANT ROYAL MAIL TO FAIL
SO f***ing WHAT IF YOU START EARLY..SHOW SOME PRIDE IN YOUR JOBS .IF I WANNA START EARLY AND I DO ITS NOT FOR ROYAL MAIL BUT ME AND THE MAN WHO HAS TO WAIT TO TAKE MY BAGS
SO f***ing WHAT IF I DRIVE MY OWN CAR(WHICH I DON'T)ITS FOR ME TO FINISH EARLY AND BE COMFORTABLE WHILST DOING THE ROUND
OVERWEIGHT BAGS...FOR f***s SAKE GO ON THEN HOWS THAT MAKING ROYAL MAIL MONEY...
AND NOBODY BUT NOBODY TAKES THEIR MEAL BREAKS IN OUR OFFICE NOT EVEN THE UNION REP...WE JUST ADD IT ON TO OUR FINISH TIME HOW SIMPLE IS THAT.
YOU GUYS MAKE ME SO MAD YOU STILL HAVEN'T WORKED OUT WHY WERE ONE OF THE LAST OUT OF MANY PUBLIC FUNDED JOBS AND YOU SAY YOUR NOT FANATICS......
ALL YOU GUYS CAN DO IS INSULT PEOPLE( SEE ABOVE POSTIE IF YOUR NOT TO PREJUDICED)WHO KNOW YOUR TALKING OUTTA YOUR ASSES
I SUGGEST AGAIN IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT FOOK OFF..JUMP OFF THAT GRAVY TRAIN..
and hellmail had it wrong.......NOT
Perhaps when you read this you might understand our position. Please note I did all of the above, started early, ignored breaks, took heavy bags and covered other rounds what thanks did we get none. We got insulted.

I think teebs has summed it up well.
I think a lot is lost on deaf ears, not just to some on here but to others up and down the UK.
We are reaping what we have sown now for many years of ignorance,we have saved RM 100's of Millions of pounds down the years and they are after more.
Some places will get away with it like my place, others wont.
Good luck.

Some of the things you are implying are quite true.....some of the posties in our office do come in early purposely to ready their pouches for the drivers to take out, only because some drivers have stated they won't hang about.cantypeANDSHOUTS wrote:another childish remark cos you know in your hearts your wrong....javidfreekashmir wrote:have they let you use the internet again mrs thatcher?
must be a thatcher idea to try to work for your overinflated paypackets...
you bunch of takers.......sick days as extra holiday...payed well over what is essentially a minimum wage job..but you guys dont say how lucky you are .you say wow we can get more and damn it we deserve it for getting outta bed most f the time
Some posties have also said when their 6 months grace period is up from the last time they were sick.......they would be off again,so thats quite true.
As far as breaks go in our office, one person takes his in normal working hours only because hes on a 2.45 hr walk.
I wouldn't tar everyone with the same brush though, what the trouble is i think offices are now split 3 ways - drivers,f/t,p/timers.....f/t walkmen see some drivers finish early, p/timers see some f/t walkmen do 30 hrs for f/t money and so on, certain people swan around the office doing naff all, having fag breaks/tea breaks etc.
At the end of the day i think this leads to bad feelings and creates generally a bad atmosphere amongst the workforce.
In the words of L tommo i blame these 2 :cfo :lfo

lee. Will you still use your car to finish early when they've introduced tracked mail scanners which need returning to the office at the end of the shift for recharging ?leehickson wrote:when my partner isnt using the car I use my car on delivery to finish as quick as i can. Its entirely up to the individual. Im a float and some of the walks are 4 hours on an average day. When I finish I go home get changed and go out to another job. How dare any of you criticise me of making a living my way. It costs me petrol money usiing the car. I dont save the Royal Mail any money in the process either.
Far to many posties digging their feking noses into other peoples business. Get on with the job and shut your mouths

I use my own car for one reason and one reason only, so I can get to my start point which is about 5 miles away from the office and less than 200 yards from my house. My finish point is about a quarter of a mile from my house so basically when I do finish If I don't have anything to take back which usually I don't I can just go home. Without having to get a bus to get to the office to pick my car up. Too much hassle otherwise.
I still give my bags and large packets to the driver for him to deliver, he's a union rep and prefers it If I make my own way to my start point haha
On the other topics being mentioned
I should start at half 9 but they asked me to go in at 8 and book overtime for it which from a 40 hour job I'm glad too. Don't go in any earlier and not get paid for it though.
I don't weigh my bags as I don't think I've ever seen the weighing scales been used in my office and would split a bag if I wasn't comfortable with it which has only happened a few times.
I think I get a 20 minute break on a 25 hour contract but to say at sometimes I finish at 12.15-12.30 I don't think there's any point moaning about it if I don't take my break say If i finsh at my normal time.

Only about twice a year do I have nothing to take back to the Delivery Office, so are you in the habit of signing yourself for Recordeds and/or leaving parcels on doorsteps, or is some some other explanation for you "usually" having nothing to take back ?postyparker wrote: My finish point is about a quarter of a mile from my house so basically when I do finish If I don't have anything to take back which usually I don't I can just go home. .

Well I am the same and I don't do either of the things you suggest. Perhaps like my area they allow him to pouch off at Post Boxes and Post Offices.Lounge Lizard wrote:Only about twice a year do I have nothing to take back to the Delivery Office, so are you in the habit of signing yourself for Recordeds and/or leaving parcels on doorsteps, or is some some other explanation for you "usually" having nothing to take back ?postyparker wrote: My finish point is about a quarter of a mile from my house so basically when I do finish If I don't have anything to take back which usually I don't I can just go home. .
