just wondering if all the strikebreakers (you know who you are) will give their £1500 lump sum to a charity, as you really don't deserve to be rewarded from your colleagues dedication to the cause !
No. Because if it wasn’t for people like you I would have had a bigger pay rise last time.
I deserve every penny of this.
You think Royal Mail would have given us a better pay rise out the goodness of their heart if we hadn’t of striked?
Wow.
This was their original deal… (pasted from this forum.)

Royal Mails pay offer is 3.5%.

An initial 2% with a further 1.5% with strings attached with the potential of a £500 lump sum payment with even more strings.

The strings attached include:
-later start and finish times on delivery to link in with LAT arrivals.
-removal of allowances
-new starters terms, pay and conditions will be significantly less than the current workforce
-flexible hours. Meaning members will be forced to work more in busy times and less during quiet.
-the reduction of sick pay
-further unachievable productivity targets

…………

So tell me where RM have backed down? Not much, right?
The pay deal in October was also turned down. That was an increase on 3.5%

Now we have 8% over, effectively 3 years with a £500 or £1500 lump sum but you guys have sacrificed £2500 in wages to get it.

RM got exactly what they wanted. The union didn’t. Remember they described the original changes as ‘derisory’.

I’m just glad I didn’t forfeit £2500 for load of waffle talk and a lost cause….

I think the pay deal has probably improved further since the last update.

If there is a bigger lump sum option then I'd be taking that, even if the smaller lump sum option is slightly better in terms of how much we get.

Larger sum = can invest, can pay off debts, go and have a well deserved holiday, or can just leave it in your bank and get around 3.4% or more in interest which may make up for any difference between the 2 options.

Yes, because we were offered one before we even voted for industrial action.

I would like to see us getting £3 or £4 more than minimum wage, as that is what we got in the past. Minimum wage has caught right up with us

Any whispers whether a lump sum or back dated? Or later starts
Backdate what? Last years payrise was the 2% imposed, any pay rise is from this April and next April, it’s wether you want 2% this year, £1500 and 6% next April or 6% this April, £500 and 2% next April.
Somebody worked out one of them is worth £500 less than the other.
6% and a smaller lump sum works out a better deal
How do you work that out ? By my calculations they have the same monetary value.

Win the Ballot - Win the dispute.

I have no idea what if anything we will be asked to vote for but you can be sure this won't be seen as a win for us, more a negotiated surrender.

The £1500 is basically the same as the 6%.

With the £1500 lump sum you get that money up front and the 6% is withheld for a year.

With the £500, you get the £1500 over that first year instead of as a lump sum, but you also get £500 as a lump sum.

So, taking the £1500 is the same as handing over £500 in return for nothing.

I’m just glad the dispute is coming to an end.
It wouldn’t surprise me if ST stands down once the deal is agreed. His job will be complete and his role would have been fulfilled.

Once the dust settles and people stop comparing it to the good old days I think most will realise it’s still a good job. For a few, the changes will mean they have to look for other employment and I wish them well in that.
A lot of people seem to not understand this, simon is a fall guy ceo. he comes in takes a load of money takes the blame for change and all the bad things happening then leaves with his money once its done. hes done his job well in the respect hes took his grillings and blame and carried on carrying out the shareholders orders

I've been saying that ST is a professional scapegoat-for-hire for at least six months.

We already do get £3.50 more than minimum wage.

Full time 37 hr postie wage is £468.89 before deductions, less 200 minutes paid break so we're paid for 33.666 hrs work (33hrs 40 mins)
468.89/33.66=£13.93 per hour, minimum wage is currently £10.42.

I don’t trust them to give us 6% next year. Take the ‘larger’ rise now and £500.

Also taking the 6% now puts more in your pension inc AVC’s now, allowing it to build quicker.

When calculating you do not remove the time on break. We don't all have the same breaks and they are a privilege. That is how they do it in the job advertisements. £12.67

Consolidated pay is always better than a lump sum so the sooner the pay rise the better. People always get hypnotised by lump sums..
