performance monitoring is actually mentioned on the RM poster they released this weekchickenwittle wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 08:33100% our gaffer constantly referring to pda actuals and how long we are stopping for etc.postslippete wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 08:28Yeah, it's always delivery that ends up drawing the short straw. Commit to deliver is never a serious proposal right now but I would expect some aspect of performance monitoring in the future. Royal Mail have the technology and regardless of what was said in the Select Committee's I believe managers fully intend to use it against usShirtbuttons wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 06:51Am I right in thinking the delivery staff will get shafted as usual? I don’t like the commit to deliver part. No matter the amount of work you will stay out and complete I’ve heard. Let’s hope that is incorrect.

Well said like it or not changes are going to come anyway I think that's what CWU realise now as well otherwise CWU go for administration routedakka86 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 09:34As far as I see it I have a year to prepare for the later starts coming in which will make it pointless doing this Job anymore for me anyway
Take the deal and accept the job is changing as the Union have agreed to it. Vote no and it comes in anyway probably quicker
These chest banging idiots that thinks it’s still owned by the government and still a public service can shout all they like we are never going back to the brilliant job this was over a decade ago
I know I sound defeatist but I have eyes and have seen the job degrade dramatically in recent times as I’m sure we all have

I think you’re just been realistic. I also think Royal Mail have watched other couriers like Yodel, Evri ect do such a poor job without any consequences that they know they can get away with failures everyday.dakka86 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 09:34As far as I see it I have a year to prepare for the later starts coming in which will make it pointless doing this Job anymore for me anyway

Those companies don’t have the uso requirements that Royal Mail should be honouring.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 09:51I think you’re just been realistic. Re: Negotiators agreement reached
We have had 3.25pm finishes in our office for years now. The job hasn’t had the perk we all signed up for i.e. early finishes, for ages, at least at our place. The difference is, now we are working all those hours. I feel for people who have to make arrangements for picking up kids etc but at least there will be some notice in there, hopefully.dakka86 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 09:34As far as I see it I have a year to prepare for the later starts coming in which will make it pointless doing this Job anymore for me anyway

I think it’s more that the job has changed dramatically from all recognition to what it was when older posties first started. We all know things can’t stay the same forever but we are now virtually a normal 9 to 5 which nobody thought possible 10 years ago.I wonder if the union even thought about trying to negotiate a shorter day for Saturday to try to sell the deal to its members.LouBarlow wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 09:57We have had 3.25pm finishes in our office for years now. Re: Negotiators agreement reached
Obviously but the USO hasn’t been enforced for years and you know as soon as OFCOM says anything they will just say we can’t afford it. Royal Mail know this hence why they’ve bought in these unworkable revisions.chickenwittle wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 09:53Those companies don’t have the uso requirements that Royal Mail should be honouring.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 09:51I think you’re just been realistic. They had two grilling by a select committee yet have still gone ahead with revisions they know will drastically fail.

Yeah. Like most, I’ve been looking at alternative employment, but unless you want to work nights, there isn’t really anything with old-school postie hours out there. I still enjoy the job (for now) so I will continue for as long as I am able.chickenwittle wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 10:02I think it’s more that the job has changed dramatically from all recognition to what it was when older posties first started. Re: Negotiators agreement reached
I’m just glad the dispute is coming to an end.
It wouldn’t surprise me if ST stands down once the deal is agreed. His job will be complete and his role would have been fulfilled.
Once the dust settles and people stop comparing it to the good old days I think most will realise it’s still a good job. For a few, the changes will mean they have to look for other employment and I wish them well in that.

Re: Negotiators agreement reached
Of course it will be same deal with a few minor changes.an people will vote yes as you say fed up can't afford to strike anymore etc.49erman wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 09:07Why after all this time would we vote ‘yes’ to a crap deal? Because we’re fed up? Because we can’t afford to strike anymore? This is exactly what Royal Mail want! It’s probably the same original deal but with a few minor changes……..if that’s the case it’ll be a big fat NO from me…..![]()

That was his job. Hatchet man Thompson. And he’s pretty much managed to give us exactly what he intended to from the beginning. They didn’t budge.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 10:17You mean by absolutely trashing the company? Give me that carrot dangler and about 15% over three years, no change to sick pay, no compulsory Sunday or redundancies and I'll sign wherever you want me to sign.
I'm sick of this crap now

Good just can’t keep losing money glad it is all over I will deal with the consequences as they appear. Take one day at a time at least we should be good until 2025 in regards to having to negotiate new pay deal.

Backdate what? Last years payrise was the 2% imposed, any pay rise is from this April and next April, it’s wether you want 2% this year, £1500 and 6% next April or 6% this April, £500 and 2% next April.Dogbone1510 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2023, 18:01Any whispers whether a lump sum or back dated?
