Ill health retirement.

Apologies if this has been asked before. After 17 years with the company I’ve been offered Ill health retirement and sign the papers next week. I understand that is 34 weeks tax free and 12 weeks taxed or there and there about. My question is, is this sum just part of our terms and conditions, or like other companies is this money coming from my pension pot? It’s all alien to me thanks in advance

How long did everything take after your final OH report? I’ve heard HR are sitting on some cases. Thanks

I had my final OH meeting/report on 20th March, and received lump sum and Pilon today. I had to remind the DOM to get paperwork completed

Literally the next day for me, I was given a day to come in and sign paperwork. I’ve heard on here it depends on your relationship with your manager, which wouldn’t surprise me.

I got my payslip through today to be paid tomorrow and finished last Saturday but seems a lot of tax, has everyone’s been 34 weeks tax free cos mine seems about a grand out

The 34weeks is tax free but remember, your three months' pay in Lieu of notice will be taxed, so seems about right a grand in tax

Make sure your outstanding holiday entitlement is included, as they have a habit of forgetting.

Your manager has to refer you to Occupational Health. That starts the process. Ask to be referred but unless it's an obvious health issue then expect a difficult path ahead.

There is a voluntary IHR where you can request it - iirc it is called Captured Conversation or something like that.

Hi I have just read your post about ill health retirement. I go in work tomorrow to sign my paperwork and have a chat. I was just wondering did you get ill health retirement on the full terms. Which is 34 weeks and 3 month pilion. I have been off 7 months. Any advice thanks. I just need to know what to accept.

i left in february and got the full ihr,hopefully they pay you the same with no stalling,good luck
