It’s obvious that people will take more time off if they know if they have another absence they won’t get paid for it.

SSP does not get paid for 3 days of absence the Government only deals in Full Weeks so that will be zero for those 3 days according to Ricky if you proceed to be off for 6 months in that second absence you will be paid full pay for the rest of the absence.Dogbone1510 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 09:35So serious question if you have sick for the 2nd time in the year will u get ssp in the 1st 3 days or do you get 0?

I have a genuine question nowhere does it mention what happens if your absence is caused thanks to an Industrial Injury(Yes I know Management make it very hard to actually report these issues) Will these be treated by the same criteria as I used to work with someone previously who had been knocked off his delivery bike breaking his hip and causing long term problems which every time he had to attend hospital for follow up procedures it was a battle for him and the CWU to get Management to use their "Discretion" and not apply the Attendance Procedure to them

And McAuley has clarified that first three days of second absence will be undpaid
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Yeah there are a few in my office who are ring fenced with certain reasons.denhamhoop wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 09:50I have a genuine question nowhere does it mention what happens if your absence is caused thanks to an Industrial Injury(Yes I know Management make it very hard to actually report these issues) Will these be treated by the same criteria as I used to work with someone previously who had been knocked off his delivery bike breaking his hip and causing long term problems which every time he had to attend hospital for follow up procedures it was a battle for him and the CWU to get Management to use their "Discretion" and not apply the Attendance Procedure to them
I wonder if you would be able to ask the manager to put the first three days as annual leave. At least you’d still get paid if money was an issue…
Or ask for indoor work if possible?

My thoughts exactly I had a accident on duty causing a break to a lower limb which still causes me issues and has also caused a back injury these will probably finish me off eventually and the 2nd sick in a year when it was on Duty and possible on going issues such we should be protected as in my opinion should all walking posties as being out in all weather's and intact on the body should be probably double what's on offer

A lot of people will get wise to the new sick pay policy, and the first time they go off sick, even if they are fine to go back to work, they will just take an extra three days because they won't get paid the next time they go off sick, so they will withdraw three days worth of labour to fix that.
That's all this will achieve.

And eventually full pay will be taken off the table as RM will say the system is being abused. Exactly what they want? Who is it advising RM again?Splappy_McSplap wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 10:21A lot of people will get wise to the new sick pay policy, and the first time they go off sick, even if they are fine to go back to work, they will just take an extra three days because they won't get paid the next time they go off sick, so they will withdraw three days worth of labour to fix that.

They gonna do it anyway one way or another they'll always blame the worker...just look at the revisions you haven't got enough on your round.Boltonian-White wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 10:37And eventually full pay will be taken off the table as RM will say the system is being abused. Re: RMCtv : Pay and change offer - your questions answered
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE CLARIFY! So, when they keep saying statuary sick pay for first 3 days of 2nd absence - does that mean £0?
Are they being total disingenuous turds and wording it like that rather than the more straightforward NO PAY for first 3 days of 2nd absence?
Im really struggling mentally now having been given lots more to do on delivery whilst at the same time potentially having sickness rights taken away!!

And Ricky McAuley confirms it at 7 mins of the video
First three days of second absence will be unpaid is their proposal
