A postman who braved the winter cold in just a T-shirt and shorts has raised nearly £4,000 for charity.
Christopher Hayes, 53, collected a total of £3,750 in sponsorship from people who live along his delivery route in Ashton-in-Makerfield, which he has worked for the last two-and-a-half years.

He handed over a cheque to the Mulitple-Sclerosis Regional Therapy and Support Group at the Ince Community Centre and thanked all the people who had donated for their generosity.

A Royal Mail employee for 15 years, Chris chose the charity because Renee Foster, who lives along his route, suffers from the disease and is helped by the charity, which is based at Ince Community Centre.

Chris said: "The group haven't got any form of sponsorship whatsoever which is why I chose to do it.
"It went really well and I would like to thank everybody who has donated personally, it is superb.

"I just wanted the money to do something for someone, the charity have thanked me and said it would do some good." To find out more information about the Multiple Sclerosis Regional Therapy and Support Group contact Barry on 07875 168485 or John on 01942 708616.
