I am CWU through and through but you have to concede that Ward is in completely unchartered territory, never before has such drastic action by the union been constantly resisted by RM, sadly I do think Ward is now trying to save his face, making big things of what miniscule concessions have been made by RM. No compulsory redundancies? They don't need to...with posties leaving in their droves and not being replaced it's mission accomplished with no severance pay!
Yeah I picked up on that as well, of course compulsory redundancies are off the table, they don't need to lose staff after the oversubscribed VR exercise. RM must have been laughing hysterically with glee at the numbers. Striking had no bearing on that being removed.
Wonder if they will when OFCOM comes knocking on the door saying pay up!
Do you seriously think they'll ever come knocking? The worse thing they'll do will be another big fine.

cwu won't accept new entrants on lesser t&c even though they would know this beforehand
but are willing to let every single existing postie who MUST do the school run, grandparents included potentially quit or pay someone to do it from march 24! and remember 4-30 becomes 5pm if flexing there
fantastic work by the team :arrrghhh

plenty wanting the £1500 bung before they quit
We use to finish at 12 every day and 9 on a Saturday, nothing stays the same forever, not many jobs out there now that give you the finish times we once had.
so your statement basically says feck the family friendly side, we just want single people without children!
i don't have any issues with the finish times but know quite a few good friends who will and it would cost more and potentially quit something they love doing, but that's ok in today's world yeah?
Get over it yeah the Job was so easy years ago working 20 hours for 40 hours pay they just want you to work the hours your paid for am I happy no but get on with it or find another job that will pay you for not being there
"get over it?"
as i said earlier, finishing 4/5pm wouldn't affect myself, i don't have any childcare issues anymore, nor likely to have in the future,
what does bother me is their are plenty of people who do the school run who will be forced to either pay someone to do this come march 24 or quit the job
you assume that this is just a get paid for free issue, i very rarely make any time, not in the way you think anyway, 5 mins here 10 mins there, and before i'd also regularly go over by the same and not book ot,
stop being so selfish and think of colleagues who will suffer with these time changes

You represent us. Nothing is happening.

I've listened to you for 15 minutes, my eyes are glazed over because you're saying nothing new.

The business pulled up stumps and decided to end negotiations early this week. How clear do you want it that there is no deal to be done??

If the members want to strike, we strike.
We don't have time for your fannying about.

The deal included a delay to the finish time change till next year, giving time for employees with children the opportunity to make arrangements. I’m not saying it is right, but not many jobs out there make allowances for employees picking up their kids from school. Folks just have to deal with it, just as they have to make other sacrifices in their lives if they choose to have kids.

Anybody accepting the revised proposal must be mad!
Sick pay totally decimated ,who can live on £109 a week SSP ?

Our job is full of Hazards ,physically demanding and we know RM didn’t give a xxxx during the heights of Covid.

Scenario:
First time ,you are off with a real bad type cold and cannot get out of bed(it’s going around the office).

Second time,You either sprain your ankle, pull your back ,Plantar fasciitis, knee gives way, trap your finger in the sliding door ,dog bite, anxiety, depression ,the list goes on and on.

Presently,Sick pay is the biggest benefit RM has and you never know when you might need it.
Statutory Sick Pay is only paid after day three at the rate of £109.40 per week.

If this goes to vote Please Think about it.

You get full pay for the first absence.
Any other time off you get SSP for the first three days ( which actually means no pay at all) then you get full pay after that and it’s the same for any other absence during the 12 month period.

And how do you keep track of annualised hours? Trust management when they say “right u owe me 50 hours over the next 2 months” or go back to the dry lunch of a union and complain?
It will all be written down on scrap paper and records kept on the people’s app (which has currently been offline for a week) :chuckle

Sick pay is the biggest red flag for me I refuse to accept this after 34 years service I’ve never abused the generous sick pay but as I’m getting older and my body is deteriorating I need to know the full sick scheme remains

And who will negotiate your future pay rises ? Or are you happy to leave that to the discretion of Royal Mail ? Good luck with that scenario :arrrghhh

It’s not rocket science, you have set start and finish times for different periods of the year , we have different length days now .

The business 'pulled up stumps' last week and refused to negotiate further.

Dave Ward said he still believes that there are some people at Royal Mail who are willing to talk in an attempt to reach an agreement.

Does anyone seriously believe we are in a strong position?

When have we ever been in a strong position? It’s not our company to run , and the company are happy to continually fail work , not a great position to negotiate from.

Blame the colleagues that have fraudulently abused the system for years for this. We still have people having a week off sick before holidays as a ‘lead in’. They should keep the current system for people legitimately sick with a doctor’s note etc but I have no issue with the sick pay process being changed to address the people misusing it currently.
