If the deal is what RM have basically offered, which is 10% over 3 years, you can make that 13% over 3 years just by cancelling your union subs.

Just saying……
No union and we wouldnt have even been offered the measly 2% for last year

Just saying...
Hey, if you’re happy with your union clap your hands.
A lot of people aren’t it seems.
Theres a difference between not being happy with how things have went currently and not having the union at all

Believe me, without a union things would be much much much worse - even you should be smart enough to know that whilst not a member.
He’s happy to milk the benefits of a union while slagging it off and not contributing, karma can be a bitch.
Karma has been kind to me so far. I haven’t lost grands on strike days and I’m not paying to watch Dave ward waffle on!
So far .
What’s it going to do? If the job gets to bad I’ll move on. If my duty gets stuff added on I’ll do the best I can I the time I’m willing to give.
But also, karma only works with actions and I don’t believe my actions to be wrong. So actually I’m owed some good karma.

Why are people saying that there is no deal or no deal to vote on by members.

The old style agreements are dead! What is on offer is the deal when it is agreed?

You cannot keep talking and talking until you get what you want. This is a business with a plan and it is not a two-way thing of meeting in the middle. How will that even work?

RM has made some concessions and it is time to put the vote to members; and if rejected, then you can carry on striking until you get what you want or the business collapses and you still won't get what you want

The Union are not in the business of running a company!

* The pay deal is not really better than the final final offer that could have been accepted last October/November. It was for 18 months and we probably would have got another 2% or so (as a follow on) in April 2025.

Either way, we work for money, let's take the money and if not happy then leave...

I think the union are doing the best that they can and I hope that they will get a better deal for it's members, I'm still proud to be part of the C.W.U

For a person who is a not in the CWU, you invest an unhealthy amount of time posting about the CWU. Its a pretty tragic to think there's someone, out there, who's soulmate seems to be s**t posting, on a minute by minute basis, about a union they don't belong to.

I think the deals that have been agreed are basically what we’re going to get. There might be a bit of tinkering on pay but not much. Don’t think they’ll budge much on the strings either. If the union can get another 2 % from somewhere that will be seen as a victory. Possibly better terms for new starters and the joker could be getting full sick pay. More hopeful on that one!

It involves the company I have invested lots of time and effort into over the years so the union does still affect me.
When we have a weak union, like we do now, it makes people miserable.

You want a stronger union whilst not being a member and think everyone should stop being a member and stop their subs? And you think everyone would be HAPPIER?!

I cannot believe people in here are questioning Dave.....

What do you expect him to do when Royal Mail are playing games, trumping up reps and staff and sacking them, giving us a bad offer on sick pay, amongst other things.....

You people either want...

1. to just bend over to Thompson and get a poor deal

or

2. think he has some magic wand which should have got us a wonderful agreement 4 months ago, but he didn't use it.
We want to see some action. We voted 97.1% in favour for strike action and all we've had is pointless updates with no plan of attack going forward. So now we wait again while members are suffering only to hear the same drivel in the next update.

Just wondering, how many on this Royal mail chat are posties,
I'm a (relatively new, -2 years) postie, but I started on a contract so vastly inferior to people I work with that I've been wondering what heft the union actually have since day one (especially as the induction video included- for a while at least- Terry claiming the CWU subs were £10 a WEEK.)
I had been in work for 20 years prior to starting, in a couple of jobs. Never had a union before, also never had the way I work, times I work, availability of overtime and person I report to changed with such alarming regularity before

He’s told you hes invested time in the company I’m assuming over this time he’s seen the past failures of the union and pulled his subs and like me completely disillusioned (although I’m still in the cwu)
