55% is more of an endorsement than Bush got with his rigged Presidential election victory.Thorby Bislam wrote:Spot on TBT. That is how I understand it to be too.
I would only add that President Karzai is the legitimate ruler of Afghanistan. See this from GlobalSecurity.org ...
55% is hardly a ringing endorsement but it is the majority rule. His actual authority outside the capital city of Kabul has been said to be so limited that he had often been derided as the "Mayor of Kabul." Although he had little or no popular support outside Kabul, the Karzai defeated his 22 opponents in the country's presidential election on October 9th, 2004. Endorsement by the second Bush administration, incumbency, the brief one month campaign season, and the paucity of news coverage in the country about his opponents made him the winner in an election initially expected to be flawed by violence and vote fraud.
On November 3, 2004, Hamid Karzai was declared the winner of Afghanistan's first-ever presidential election, after the United Nations-Afghan joint electoral commission endorsed the election results as free and fair and announced that Karzai had won more than 55% of the votes.
On December 7, 2004, Afghanistan's Hamid Karzai took the oath of office and thus becoming Afghanistan's first popularly-elected president.

Disappointed in you L Tommo, the guy didn't ask for his station in life and has tried to be independent in thought and deed from what the establishment would expect - by all accounts he is a good officer which is far more than many of us have experienced in this job - give the guy a break. P.S. Have a couple of Stellas and cheer up, Spurs might have another trophy on the way soon.L Tommo wrote:I would rather be a Muslim than a

I may have misunderstood. But from what I have heard in the news, it's not Prince Harry's safety that they are most concerned about, but his men. If they were worried about him, they wouldn't have sent him to the front line in the first place. They would have sent him somewhere safer.cantypeANDSHOUTS wrote:maybe its the reason it was secret...his selfishness??he wants to be like every other man in the army .you saddos knock him for being royal then knock him when he wants to be normal..Fluke wrote:The problem as I see it is, how hard are the Taliban going to start hitting our lads now just on the off chance they might get him.His selfishness is putting our troops at more risk. I bet we will see an increase in Taliban activity over the next few weeks.
truly pathetic..
id prefer him being there than getting pissed in a bar with you lot..he is a very good leader by all accounts and wants to fight along side our own brothers and sisters.taking exactly the same risks.
are his troops better off with their usualy commander gone or worse off with a guy leading them they don't know or trust?
As I have said before: Royals like Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, etc.. Are intent on bringing back the tradition of the Royal Family, being in the thick of it, in war time. And I have a deep respect for them, for doing that.
You are right about his Troops too. They should have moved ALL of them, not take a Commander that they know and trust away from them. They should have been kept together as a Unit.
Don't knock Insanity
it's just another outlook on Reality!

Regardless of my views on the Royal Family . A lot of them are or have been better suited to Forces Life than Civvy Street such as the Old Sea Dog , The Duke of Edinburgh , you can go back to King George V ; there was one old sea dog who said he'd served under a few of the Royal Family and found Prince Charles to be the best .rhino49 wrote:Disappointed in you L Tommo, the guy didn't ask for his station in life and has tried to be independent in thought and deed from what the establishment would expect - by all accounts he is a good officer which is far more than many of us have experienced in this job - give the guy a break. Proud to wear the Crown.
Basically it's a matter of having Proper Jobs and a purpose . Secondly if you go back in History , it's what they've always done .
case of after the Lord Mayor's show with Birmingham ?
As for Princess Diana , she did try and drag the Royal Family ; kicking and screaming into the last century and there would have been a time that her sort would have either been thrown in the Tower or committed to an asylum.
The Media thing with her was ridiculous , some of it was deliberate dumbing down of the media as they rather have us all on a diet of trivia than concerned with what was actually going on the country . She coped like most people would have of her age and without training .
MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.
