Our revision went "live" today. 4 walks in our section gone, the 2 duty holders (as 2 were absorption) have to resign and kick someone off another duty. But then RM are paying 2 people to do the big trackeds to compensate for the extra drops on the rounds, so as far as I can tell this revision is costing RM 2 extra wages...
Don't worry mate that will soon stop and you'll have all the oversized Tracked back on the walks 100% guaranteed.

How much extra prep time does an extra X amount of calls cost you. Putting Door2Doors in the frame, sorting mail, parcels, redirections....

Then when you bring stuff back you gotta put it back in the frame first thing the next morning.

Then you will take extra time delivering that 2 days mail the next day.

Then if you have specials for further along in the round you are going to lose even more time, no doubt you will regularly have to cut off to go get those specials.

Looking forward to the total mess this is all going to cause when we get our revision.

Ours went live today. Just about got done on time so the manager stated he wanted to add a few more loops to the duty :d'oh!

Also same amount of staff as last week but more are now full time so are they making savings?

How's that worked I'm assuming they removed duties to make the savings?

Why does he?

Are all rounds now supposed to be approx 3 loops too big?

And I guess that you then either go overtime to deliver them or just rotate the 3 loops you bring back.

Ours also started yesterday. I lost my duty so I am now all over the place. Got put on a round I've never done before, duty holder went sick so i was in my own then given lapsing to do first!! Boss wanted to know why I wouldn't be able to complete. Did the best I could and came back with the rest. I may have got it done if it hadn't been for the lapsing

Ours started yesterday and I've took a new duty today first time on it and it's obscene, its some sort of hybrid duty now with bits of the rural walks they decided to get rid off, must have spent more time on the sat nav than delivering letters

I basically managed all the parcels and specials plus about 3 loops in total madness!

Armageddon in our office ,its only a matter of time before companies start dropping royal mail tracked parcels, half of mine came back and was told to scan unable to deliver, already had people moaning why they aren't being delivered and complaining to companies .Well done Simon your single handedly destroying your own parcel business what a tool.On another note large parcels and lots of them left in the office and not delivered.

If two walks are gone that's two jobs and they have been replaced by two parcels duties, aren't you just even on the number of staff?

Seriously pardon my ignorance been a postie for 31 years, but what exactly is a loop? How long does it take number of houses it’s just a term we don’t use yet in our office.

Its basically a bag of mail which will generally have you delivering from where the van is parked and back

Not all loops are the same size or take a set amount of time but generally they are 30-40 mins long

On van shares - the driver usually will go one way and the passenger the other and the loop should bring each of them back to the van

Then move the van on and repeat

Each frame generally has between 6-12 loops depending on the size of the loops
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

as a general thought and not sure if others agree - but I've never liked this term 'Boss'. A skilled manager's job is to manage us using managerial skills which hopefully err more towards reasoning and persuasion than coercion or demanding. A Boss sounds like they boss people around and their word is the only one that counts. That's just me though.

Oh, I absolutely agree. No-one will be my boss. I will be no-one's boss. The resemblance to a master and slave relationship is far too stark.
