Lack of empathy on here is clearly astounding but then some posters have their own agenda.

This guy has clearly been fitted up. This is not an isolated incident ( I know a few personally) but has come to light as the guy posted on FB.

Over nearly 20 years in half a dozen different job roles /offices I've witnessed all kinds of bad, disrespectful behaviour from Managers and colleagues. After all the shop floor can be a pressure cooker sometimes. This behaviour was usually dealt with in a constructive way in a timely manner. Read, people got moved sideways, not left to rot.

To leave someone to rot not knowing their fate is one of the worst things you can do to someone. Especially someone already dealing with some very deep personal issues.

So get a grip you wind up merchants and have some respect. Not naming names but you know who you are. If I was admin I'd ban you as this is common trolling behaviour and you're just after a reaction. Very sad. You should be ashamed.
How has he been fitted up when he has'nt explaind anything. we all lead stressful lives but try an keep it out of workplace.

Is this one of those examples of trumped up charges? 😔

No remorse but just telling us about his personal circumstances - fine, but that can only get someone so far when it comes to issues of discipline or even the law.

Was he provoked? Is he such a gentle soul that will not say boo to goose before his personal losses.

What if the situation was the other way round? A strike breaker on the edge that lashes out unprovoked by a particular colleague or lashes out at those staring and taking his or her photos from the picket line.

From what he wrote, he appeared to have totally lost it on a non strike day; he was sent home to cool off.

Stripping someone of their dignity could be worse for some people than losing a job.

Being a rep and we being in dispute or striking at the time changes nothing. We have had people sacked for aggressive behaviour and mouthing off (if I see you outside and all that) to someone else that was minding his business). Small issue that was not the victim's fault... Everyday office occurrence but the victim just stood up for once to the bully and then it kicked off...

Wow this thread took the *checks notes* exact same turn every other thread has. Well done everyone!

Since Christmas I've been treated like crap by a good proportion of my colleagues (ignored, deliberately bumped into with yorks as they go past my frame EVERY MORNING, watched people all get up and walk out when I go in the break room, and at least twice a week my van keys disappear from my frame and reappear in the bin...) Our rep told me today there's a list of people I can't be placed with because they refuse to work with me.
Why? You ask. Why, indeed. I stood on the picket with these people, I travelled to London with them and I never broke the strike... What I did do, however, was complete walks within time, that the duty holders had said were unachievable.

Stick your solidarity up your pipe

If you cross a picket line you do not deserve respect from the people who are making sacrifices to fight for your rights.
It is fine to not respect people crossing pickets, but anyone bullying or harassing them deserves to lose their job, irrespective of their own health problems.
100%
I have nor ever will cross a picket line - but if someone does then i would never bully/harass them for choosing to do so for whatever reason.
I hate and despise bullies and most harassment takes place employee to employee - which is conveniently forgotten about in RM.
Some people think they have some God given right to harass others under the name of banter.
Screw them

Any individual who continues a sustained personal attack on another individual risks
consequences with a persons Mental Health. It is so common in a unionised industry but the perpetrators fail to see those consequences as tied up in their own self importance.

Saying they should get a thicker skin shows that contempt one worker has for a fellow worker, but it is only Banter?

Be that managers against an employee or employee on another employee. Bullying is bullying and those perpetrators need to hang their heads in shame.

Am aware of an employee who went into work during the strikes and the constant abuse from her co workers resulted in her committing self harm. She had personal debts (CCJ) from the court and has to pay a set amount each week deducted from her wages as a liability order.

I believe that the original poster Mr Bracey would despair at the content of this thread and what it has become.

He came on here looking for sympathy, he got what he deserves.
Workplace is no place for harassment from colleagues, oh but he wasn't in a good place, so what, suck it up, do the decent thing hand your notice in, walk away with your head down in shame.

Well, as you say yourself, he hasn't exactly said what he may or may not have done. He gave the reason he was suspended.

He has not told us what he had done but also not denied the accusations; he only gave mitigating factors.

On the face of it, the use of the word 'dignity' is a big one for me; lack of respect is neither here or there but he must have shamed the other person or reduced the person to zero...

He also admitted that he was sent home to 'cool off' - he was probably afforded the use of the phrase to 'cool off' because he is a Union Rep. Why would he be asked to go home and cool off?

I am more interested in his victim at this stage and his problem should not in anyway or form has anything to do with negotiations; people get disciplined everyday; what is so special about the Reps?

Yeah, I think you need to read the whole post again. What is it with this site and people reading the first 2 or 3 lines of a post?

If he gives out too many details of what happened then this can affect his case. He's said enough already to give people an idea of the way he's been treated.

It's not about being given special treatment. It's about being treated fairly. Would you say RM are acting fairly at the moment in your opinion Chris?

Very broad question? Are RM acting fairly? In what way or what context? He has not been sacked - in all probabilities, he might have been sacked in any other job.

Was he not asked to go and cool off - it tells me of someone who lost it!

RM has a disciplinary procedure - that should be followed regardless of who it is involved?

Like I said, this fellow can say all he wants about mitigating circumstances but he is not unique and there is another person at the end of his misdemeanor...

His case is already in the toilet posting details on social media while disciplinary action is in progress.

This chap will be lucky to keep his job as Royal Mail are gunning for reps.
That probably will lead to another charge in breaching social media policy. His branch posting this into the public domain shows a distinct lack of foresight.
