Do you honestly believe that there are election procedures that can be implemented by CWU HQ in the unfortunate event of a Branch being suspended by HQ? I don't!

Nor do i believe that there is another set of rules dealing with suspended Branches.

Therefore are CWU HQ compliant within the present rules and procedures in respect of members from NI No1 wishing to take run for NEC Elections?

Are we an inclusive union or are some people within HQ practising forms of exclusion against members of an Irish Branch?

Im just a lowly delivery office IR/H&S rep, so can only think what steps i would take to get the info i require if io was in your situation.


I presume that you are going to make enquiries, rather than just speculate.

I think the rules what ever they may be would make a good topic for debate on RMC.

Its rules revision confrence this year as well, so if anybody would like to see some rule changes, now is your chance.

We have a notice in our office to tell mbrs who to contact if they have any issues they would like the branch to take to confrence.

Credentials dont run out untill the end of march, might stay on for another year so i can make sure phase 3 and 4 flexibility are implemented properly and oversee the introduction of pegasus as we are a phase 2 office.

Planner is due week 14 of the new financial year (mid june) to start the pegasus/georoute process.

As far as i can tell nothing on this thread has been posted that shows SF was in favour of the felxbility deal, also there is no mention of this in the election address that was sent out.

Shall do as you suggest Big Daz but don't hold your breath on a quick reply from HQ as i know from several comrades that those powers that be are extremly reluctant to answer any questions regarding the Branches suspension, apart from 1 or 2 notable exceptions. Of course i'll post any response om RMC should make for interesting reading, if indeed we are presented with answers at all.

Ps, message to CWU HQ - Respect My Branch and comply with union rules.......ALWAYS......You may suspend OUR BRANCH but you shall never suspend OUR RULES!

Here's the latest, seems someone from HQ must have been monitoring union room as a General Meeting of the N.I. No1 Branch is to take place tomorrow.

The Agenda reads Nominations to the NEC and motions to Annual Conference.

Posters advertising this went on the union notice boards Monday 3rd March and 4th March but were for reason dated 20th February.

The venue for the meeting as displayed only lately and when enquiries were made at these premises they stated that no one had made any booking.

Motions were known to have been submitted but none were displayed within the Branch workplaces 4 days prior to this meeting, hence no amendments to motions are possible.

When the Branch Administrator was asked about the numerous discrepancies and his suspension of an IR Election this week he replied that he would answer the questions tomorrow at the meeting but yet again failed to clarify where that meeting would be taking place dispite repeated requests for him to do so.

The General Meeting is now taking on farcical dimensions and no doubt Mr Administrator will have the local plods on standby in order to prevent himself from having to answer any difficult questions from any irate members of the N.I. No1 Branch, should any of the find the venue that is!!!!!!

Anyone out there have any idea where the N.I. No1 Branch Meeting is taking place, cause Mr Administrator is keeping it a closely guarded secret.

there was a nomination from the suspended northern ireland no1 branch at a meeting today but sadly not enough people knew where it was or turned up so the administrator could not proceed with the meeting. this poor man will now not be able to stand in the nec elections this year.
