If you cross a picket line you do not deserve respect from the people who are making sacrifices to fight for your rights.
I’m sure you’ll all get a Victoria Cross medal for your outstanding bravery and sacrifice.
But this guy who has been suspended has been accused of showing a lack of respect to a colleague.

This is from the CWU:
The CWU believes that every worker should be treated with dignity and respect. We do not tolerate harassment, bullying or discrimination wherever it comes from. We aim to do all we
can to ensure our workplaces are free from the misery caused by harassment and that all workers can expect to be treated with dignity and respect.

So this ‘rep’ has allegedly gone against what his own union stands for. You members who feel it ok to isolate people and show no respect are also picking and choosing which CWU guidelines to ignore and which to follow.

• Name calling jokes, offensive language mocking
• Exclusion from workplace social activities
• Making stereotypical assumptions
• Isolating people

Some examples on the CWU website.

I'm sorry but the whole point of a picket line is to try to convince people to not work, not completely slagging off people and bully them. I've been on picket lines and seen all sorts. Some people I get along with well, but some that were there I completely despise but hold my tongue so it doesn't look bad on the union. It's part of being an adult, there's going to be people that you are not going to like. But, under no circumstances is it okay to bash them in workplace or on social media, and that's with all employers, not just RM.

How on earth are you gonna convince them if we are acting like complete children? No better than the dickhead managers and higher up on what they are doing. A union is suppose to be fighting for those that can't fight and those in the future. Any union or anyone else that excuses these behaviour, isn't a union or fighting for the betterment of the workplace. It's for your own self interest. If it was me and this guy was completely out of line (again we don't know the full story), I'd wash my hands with him because it a reflection on the union themselves.

It is fine to not respect people crossing pickets, but anyone bullying or harassing them deserves to lose their job, irrespective of their own health problems.

Lot of people on here who refuse to do their bit but will gladly reap any and all benefits from other peoples efforts.

You know exactly the kind they are in the work place, the ultra selfish loud mouths.

Plus they usually have personal hygiene, issues.

Actually didn't even break the strikes so speaking from someone that actually someone that's been on the picket lines and has basically exhausted all his savings at this point since refused to do any overtime, seems really shallow that you are assuming this much from people that are strike breakers. It's honestly a pretty pathetic viewpoint, especially the little end bit you added on there.

I've was with people there on the lines that would be all about that solidarity nonsense and doing it for the future of RM, only for the next day to come in an hour early or leaping at the overtime, ultimately saving the company money and basically working the 5 day or less service they wanted anyways. Hell, these same people are still doing it now even with the clock in and out machines. I've seen strike breakers that are the only provider of their household since lover one can't work. So we have good and bad on all sides of the fence. We have our own reasons for striking or not striking, I have no problems owning that. My point being, you cannot under no circumstances paint people with the same brush. Everyone has different situations they are living and if this guy has done that, then it's the wrong thing to do.

Whatever you say, however you try to justify it (to others or to yourself), if you are a scab then the vast majority of the workforce will have little to no respect for you and that is something you will have to suck up and deal with.

So come on here and whine all you like, but if this is you then you are probably better served by spending your time looking for supplementary work.

Lack of empathy on here is clearly astounding but then some posters have their own agenda.

This guy has clearly been fitted up. This is not an isolated incident ( I know a few personally) but has come to light as the guy posted on FB.

Over nearly 20 years in half a dozen different job roles /offices I've witnessed all kinds of bad, disrespectful behaviour from Managers and colleagues. After all the shop floor can be a pressure cooker sometimes. This behaviour was usually dealt with in a constructive way in a timely manner. Read, people got moved sideways, not left to rot.

To leave someone to rot not knowing their fate is one of the worst things you can do to someone. Especially someone already dealing with some very deep personal issues.

So get a grip you wind up merchants and have some respect. Not naming names but you know who you are. If I was admin I'd ban you as this is common trolling behaviour and you're just after a reaction. Very sad. You should be ashamed.

NEVER cross a picket line under any circumstances, it is not complicated, there are alternatives.

If you choose to ignore the alternatives then accept the consequences.
what alternatives? whos feeding the kids? whos paying the rent? get in the real world

How has he clearly been fitted up which bit? It sounds like he has treated a colleague badly and used personal excuses to excuse it. if he has done it then good riddance

He 'disrespected' someone and has been left to rot. 5 months he's been left. 2 occasions of contact from management. Criminals in the justice system are treated better.

Have you even read what I've written above? Try again. It's bloody obvious to anyone with half a brain. Or are you someone that just lacks empathy because you've never been in a situation where you've been left to rot.... maybe.

Not exactly left to rot as he is still being paid a full wage when suspended, so no financial hardship unlike those forced to cross a picket line.

Some of us still remember the Burslem dispute with allegations of bullying from reps.

What happened to the reps and staff with that dispute?

'disrespect' is a very vague term. that could be a number of things from a name called to straight up bullying.. let them go through the independan process and if found guilty then good bye . being left to rot lol im sure hes still being paid. he has no right to disrespect someone just because hes having personal issues.
