But what if IDS can offload RM back to the Government and retain GLS and Parcel Force plus, possibly, RM's Tracked/oversized parcel business, they suddenly have a very profitable business, meaning dividends will soon follow? I can't really see KW/ST want to be involved with IDS for more than a couple more years, particularly KW who's hardly a youngster.blacov wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 16:41This has been pretty clear for quite some time now that RM board or should I say IDS directors, wanted to break up the company and strip whatever they find valuable. We have been played from day one. CWU couldn't really get us anything meaningful, Royal Mail didn't want to engage in negotiations in good faith. They were dead set on advancing their parcel network and made it quite clear the letter delivery is a burden, they tried to save face by reducing the USO but it failed so now they are moving to plan B of breaking up the company and calling in the administrators, may as well be a last minute bluff to save the face. This carries a huge reputational damage, in my opinion impossible to repair for a very long time.
Royal Mail is on the verge of destruction as we know it. In terms of shares. Since the RMG changed to IDS a break up of company and stripping highly profitable GLS and maybe parcelforce can be boost the price in medium term. Especially if they manage to retain some of the market they used to enjoy as Royal Mail in its still current form. So I wouldn't hit panic sell button but I'd rather forget about any dividends for a good couple of years. If you are breaking even or managed to buy shares for less than current price, you may as well get rid of them because the future is going to be very bumpy for the company in whatever shape and form they will remain. Those well in the red should still hold and at least see how it pans out.

Re: Update 28/03/2023
A lot of customer use Royal Mail because of the posties and the service they provide, how many of these would move their business to GLS which provide a service on par with Evri. That would be very risky imo.TopperGas wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 19:13But what if IDS can offload RM back to the Government and retain GLS and Parcel Force plus, possibly, RM's Tracked/oversized parcel business, they suddenly have a very profitable business, meaning dividends will soon follow? Re: Update 28/03/2023
But what if it was Parcel Force/RM Parcels and GLS was just the holding company in the UK, I can't see IDS just handing over the parcel hubs to RM/the Government although customers may not have a choice if RM stops delivering large parcels? You have to assume IDS must have some plans post administration or they wouldn't be threatening to go down that route.Sbutts8182 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 19:19A lot of customer use Royal Mail because of the posties and the service they provide, how many of these would move their business to GLS which provide a service on par with Evri. Re: Update 28/03/2023
Why would IDS get to retain the Royal Mail brand if they have handed it back to the government?

Re: Update 28/03/2023
From the very start of this dispute I was sure RM was either looking for a way to either separate letters entirely from parcels, or obtain some kind of subsidy from the government for maintaining letter deliveries. I was anticipating that ownership of the new hubs could be quietly transferred to another company, say GLS, and then leased back to Royal Mail. That would remove them from any insolvency process and give GLS, or a new RM parcel off-shoot an entry into the UK parcels market, when it came time to break up Royal Mail.

Re: Update 28/03/2023
April on Saturday. April.
No action since December, mugged into ridiculous 'talks' with the total misapprehension that Royal Mail would somehow meet the CWU half way after negotiation, when in fact Royal Mail are planning to destroy the business even quicker than we thought.
Dead in the water.

So D day has passed with nothing.
Have I missed something or does the status quo still hold.
We are somewhere, we are nowhere, but still stuck in the middle ground?

Again.
But jaw jaw is always better than war war.

Re: Update 28/03/2023
I see it as a positive that talks are still continuing after todays board meeting. Good also that the threat of administration has been removed, what a despicable company we work for, managers were clearly briefed from the top to push this down our throats this week. It won’t be forgotten.

Re: Update 28/03/2023
it appears to me that the chiefs in the cwu are on a sticky wicket and not a clue on how to play the next ball
i get that they need to talk but it's going absolutely no where, and quite frankly the cwu will cease to be a recognised trade union within rmg or whatever we're called now,
i don't know any in my d/o who have any faith or confidence in them anymore, my respect for the high up team fell when that prick held up that childish poster on the 1st select committee meeting, bunch of amateurs,
just give us a vote on the proposals and go from there, either way it appears we are all fecked and most looking for a way out

Re: Update 28/03/2023
Will you be still thinking the same tomorrow afternoon if the CWU announce a reasonable deal? None of us really know if the CWU is being out manoeuvred by IDS or has them by the short and curlies, the threat of administration doesn't seem to have had any noticeable effect.world class male wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 22:47it appears to me that the chiefs in the cwu are on a sticky wicket and not a clue on how to play the next ball
