Re: Strike ?
One presumes (or hopes to, at least) that the threat of strikes has had an impact imperceivable to those not in the talks, and the extension to said talks is the materialisation of which you speak

Re: Strike ?
Good chance this will be Royal Mail sitting them down and saying one last time here’s the deal, reject it and we’re into administration.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 18:45UPDATE: Talks with Royal Mail will resume tomorrow. Re: Strike ?
Doubtful. I think the threat of sending the company into administration trumps any threat of strikes.Kenfandango wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 19:09One presumes (or hopes to, at least) that the threat of strikes has had an impact imperceivable to those not in the talks, and the extension to said talks is the materialisation of which you speak
Hence why calling for strikes was never a realistic prospect anyway. Both sides are just playing games now it would seem.

To which the CWU should say, once last time, you can't save the company by grinding our worforce into the dust, so change or die.toonshola wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 19:34Good chance this will be Royal Mail sitting them down and saying one last time here’s the deal, reject it and we’re into administration.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 18:45UPDATE: Talks with Royal Mail will resume tomorrow. Re: Strike ?
You would hope that would be the unions response. I’m not confident though. Ward looked weak and jittery in those video updates today. Neither outcome will be good for us at this stage anyway.sindba wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 19:37To which the CWU should say, once last time, you can't save the company by grinding our worforce into the dust, so change or die.toonshola wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 19:34Good chance this will be Royal Mail sitting them down and saying one last time here’s the deal, reject it and we’re into administration.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 18:45UPDATE: Talks with Royal Mail will resume tomorrow. Re: Strike ?
Sky News article just out.
"Sky News understands that should the union call new strike dates, the loss-making company's board would not seek a drastic response by declaring an insolvency, as has been reported, at least in the immediate future."
"A Communication Workers Union (CWU) source said talks at the conciliation service Acas were scheduled for Thursday but fresh walkouts could be called the following day should substantial progress not be achieved."

So all the bluff amounted to nothing.
