 If you are a CWU member - then YOU are the union. I do not like the way that the 'leaders' of the CWU ran this latest strike issue & actively campaigned for a 'No' vote. 52% of my branch - did not bother to vote - overall app 65% of the union voted to accept the deal. Reps now have two choices - resign in disgust - or soldier on picking up the pieces. I am fighting on for my unit & shall advise my members how to change 'things at the top' - at the next elections. I share your frustration - but don't roll over & take it willingly up the khyber - support your rep if he is a fighter - replace him if he is not. Fight - don't bleat!

How can you fight whenever it will be implemented by EA and this comes from the AGM not the DOM.

Tell the rep to put a disagreement in with your manager, ask for all the information for flexibility plan. Then change all the figures to suit yourself hand in a counter proposal and go to stage 2 disagreement.

been there done that, it's still being implemented either by agreement or by EA and ours now include indoor, outdoor, covering for staff and long and shorts  maybe if we had a branch to go to then it wouldn't be as bad but we don't so we just get screwed :cry

Well said :Applause :Applause :Applause Please remember this was voted in by a democratic ballot, and although i did not like the result, theres no way im just going to sit back and watch arses in suits ruin what was once a great company and a great job! I was thata mad i stood for a reps position, and got it, so ive had to negotiate a flexibility agreement for our office, it was difficult because the management thought i was as stupid as them :no no we managed to reach an acceptable agreement with lots of help and advice from my area rep and other more experienced reps, we managed to negate some of the worst aspect of deal, i.e. working at other offices by insisting that it would only be done on a voluntary basis I accept that this deal aint great but nows the time to stand together and get the best deal possible for all us posties, unfortunately this can only be acheived at a local level so all members of OUR union need to get behind the reps in there own offices and get the best deal possible :Applause :Applause

I am getting pissed off with this we are the union crap. The union is only as strong as its leaders and with this lot we are a bunch of lily livered tossers that have got into bed with RM. The result. We are being shafted from both sides, whilst a great british institution is being run into the ground with the consequences yet to be reaped by local communities the elderly and the honest harding working man such as ourselves being sacrificed on the alter of "free enterprise". Free enterprise my ass more like free loading.

The NHS has over the past 10 years slowly been privatised by the back door, a path that RM are following. And we have all seen how wonderful the NHS is now with regard to cleanliness, you know the one where it was hived out to the cheapest bidder, resulting in going into hospital not knowing what secondary problems you might pick up.

I am struggling to come to terms with paying £10.00p a month union subs when change is being implemented with only lip service being paid to union consultation and agreements. The campaign for the yes vote by the union leaders has finished the union as RM now see the union as a paper tiger.

So I now take the view that jobs are going to go, so lets operate on a Mon to Fri and loose 1/6th of the workforce. This will make the saving RM are seeking and with a decent management team in place that can get it into their thick head that the greatest asset the RM has is their staff. Because no friggin machine is going to be able to transport and deliver the items of mail for TNT and the like without a some imput from the workers.

Here endeth the rant.

I agree with dogfood. We are know seen as very weak. Management are implementing stuff that I believe was not highlighted at a higher level.

With regards to working slower etc: The bottom line is that walks are being reworked by pegasus and we are being told for example that "this" walk will take a normal guy 3 1/2 hours to complete no ifs or buts. Therefore if you are not up to the job tough s**t..... no overtime will be paid because someone else will do it in the time worked out, or you can either speed up or take your time but we won t pay you a penny over. So when people on this site say things like slow down and do the job properly we are basically saying that the job can be done quicker. Again admitting to the RM management that the job is easier than we say. And before you all start vtalking about meal relief etc, that will be priced into the walk time. If a walk is shown to take 3 1/2 hours by pegasus or any other means, then management could effectively keep us all in our offices untill 10.45am. And as I have said before, no person or office wants their post at 2.00pm I dont care what you say. Its quite unbeliveable that we are sitting around at 9.15 waiting for a poxy missort run when people have been sitting in their offices for 45 minutes already probably asking if the post has arrived yet.

So I have always agreed that voting yes to the last agreement was a big mistake. The management will implement what they see fit and we can t do much about it because we agreed to all change laid out in the agreement and RM management will manipulate us for many a year to come.

the reason i said slow down is because far to many posties are out their and running round their deliveries to get finnished before thier time and this is where our problems lie if peagasus says we finnish at 2 15 thats fine by me but i will not be forced to go over that time if they do that they can sack me and i will see them in industrial tribunals dont let manangement bully you into things that you cannot do

No You are right... posties do run around and make time, but.............. again under the new agreement I believe that we will have to come back and sign in after our deliveries, therefore under pegasus the walk will take 3 1/2 hours end of chat. All I was saying is that we may be forced to stay in the office untill 10.45 under the new agreement and this is NOT beneficial to the customer is it? So really managment are bullying us into doing things we really dont want to do, but 'legally' under the new agreement.

As for your 4 1/2 hour walk, what do you mean? Of course if its tested at 4 1/2 hours then it will be cut to whatever the standard time for a walk at your office is deemed to be. I dont get what you are saying gazza2?
