Really people is this the best we can do," all out strike!", "what are the union doing!" lets get some perspective on whats going on. We havent been party to the talks and lets face it its hard to have talks with somebody who just keeps moving the goalposts, from what i am reading RM just keep throwing stuff at the wall and see if anything sticks, difficult to make any sort of headway with that sort of attitude. I know the threat of administration is daunting for people but at the moment thats all it is, a threat. Using this tactic shows the depths they are prepared to go to. Administration is a chancey road for RM to go down as it allows whoever comes in to look after the company the ability to scrutinise whats been going on, if they spot a bit of tom foolery the outcome for them might just be criminal. All the changes are designed to utterly bamboozle even the smartest brains and they must know any sane person will always push back against them. If they do decide to go into administration they wont just close the doors so stop panicking about your job, theres a process involved when this happens of which we all have little knowledge. So relax people lets see how it plays out, call their bluff and announce some dates if they wont negotiate properly, lets see who blinks first.

Re: Update 28/03/2023
RM are f****d if they think they are going to retain people, once a new starter is tasked with 6-7 hours of walking they will be off like a shot.

There is some truth in this the reps should of been dealt with separately/independently it should of been for the greater good, who knows if some of the reps were actually at fault it doesn't really have anything directly to do with t&Cs/payrise.

Re: Update 28/03/2023
Exactly. Looking at the markets this morning it looks like they are pricing in that RM will announce today that they will file for liquidation. This seems like the markets are seeing this as a positive move for the company (IDS) in that they can be rid of the cash drain that is royal mail and cash in on the profitable GLS. It's if the govt want to take us on or not. I would guess not with the amount of debt they have racked up with covid and paying peoples bills. So the question would be , who IS going to take us on? and on what terms ? if at all.fluffysnow wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 06:45Save a few thousand jobs or lose everyones jobs well done dave

I've been made Redundant several times in my life and it didn't kill me. I agree with your view that there will still be some kind of job left, although I've no idea what it might look like. At least we're not trying to protect a cushy £100K a year position!
Perhaps if you've been in the job since you left school, like some of my colleagues have, you're bound to get more stressed about this situation, but it's not the end of the World. Lets see what happens.
IF you are that worried start to do something about it. Perhaps put in some extra OT and start paying off those credit card bills, put your finances in order, cancel those Trendy Prepared Food Orders, consider managing without EVERY Pay to View package going.

Always a good idea to limit social media, especially during stressful times.
Haven't been on Facebook since the start of Covid, don't think I missed anything.

No chance the government want this shitshow back. It will be offered to the first buyer they can offload it too and if you think things are bad now.. imagine a competitor taking us on such as amazon..rambo1 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 08:27Exactly. Ok can someone tell me how GLS can escape the administrators ?
from what i have seen GLS was brought with RM money so if RM goes so does GLS - what am i missing ?
ST and the rest of the board would get nothing right ?

Re: Update 28/03/2023
The conspiracy theorists are tying themselves in knots! IDS is still one company and I doubt the government will easily let it uncouple before insolvency and administration...
What happens after that is anyone's guess... It will be messy because of the USO and the need for a reliable postal service. It might get carved up but current shareholders and board will not walk away with any goodies; if any at all. DK is a shareholder like any other, his investment might turn to dust...
It makes no sense that RM or IDS wants to go bust intentionally; they want a reduction in USO obligations and they want to curtail the Union because it disturbs their decision making and business plan (they did not set out to bust the Union). And most importantly they want to make more profits - sustainable profits through cost cutting and bigger market share of parcels and newer products.
All those going on about them running it into the ground are way off the mark. They are determined to carry out their business plan - with or without the Union or workers

Some people in here were saying they still have shares. Should they sell up quick?chrisj wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 10:40The conspiracy theorists are tying themselves in knots! IDS is still one company and I doubt the government will easily let it uncouple before insolvency and administration...

And why would that Czech bloke want to lose all of his shares?
None of it makes sense to me.
