Yet again calling the CEO of the company you work for and Boss "Slyman" shows the contempt its unionised workers have for their employer. This juvenile rhetoric is what has got us into this position.

What would you call him? Do you think he has behaved honestly with moral integrity? If he has why has he appeared twice at the BEIS Committee? The second time being required to swear an oath to tell the truth. That is extremely rare. The CWU have tried to negotiate in good faith with an employer which has no moral compass and a hidden agenda to demoralise and destroy its workforce. If you're content to work for someone like that then be prepared for more and far worse changes to come especially if the union ceases to exist.

Oh do behave. What has got us into this mess by a measure of about 80% is the board and our hapless "senior leadership". Mr Thompson is nothing more than an out of depth salesperson who had never run a company before Royal Mail - unless you want to count the Track & Trace debacle. He is somebody's useful idiot; we just haven't found out yet who he belongs to. Remember, respect is earned not demanded and Mr Thompson has done absolutely nothing to earn my respect. True leaders inspire people and understand how to motivate their staff so that they continually go the extra mile for them. I've had the pleasure to work for a few - and I can assure you, Mr Thompson is orders of magnitude away from such people.

Whilst I accept the union has been far from perfect, their unprofessionalism pales into insignificance when we look at our current CEO and how he has steered his rock steady course towards the metaphorical iceberg dead ahead whilst watching it loom ever larger. He is Royal Mail's very own Captain Smith. He has surrounded himself by a bunch of people who are either too star-struck, stupid, frightened or myopic to challenge him. I and many others have challenged him politely and intelligently, directly on his own social media platform. That he runs away from such challenges without uttering a single word speaks volumes.

For what its worth, If we go into administration I can hold my head up and say I tried. What I wonder will be your Royal Mail epitaph and more entertainingly, what will be Mr Thompsons?

Redlen himself posted the other day that he is employed by Royal Mail but not as a delivery postman so it’s a bit much to accuse him of “slipping up” because he mentioned monthly pay.

You have to wonder what he’s been told by the managers underneath him. The fact is there are other jobs out there paying similar and a lot less strenuous and with them treating staff the way they have the loyalty isn’t there anymore.

At last the real RM shows its hand, a deliberate ploy since day one - to smash this great company to pieces, and reward the foreigners who invested - firstly by massive bonuses and shareholders payments, and then by having the dud Czech run the place, reaping rich returns. Give us decent redundancies and we can all clear off - our pride in tatters, to search for pastures new. All those who seem to support Thompson and his wild bunch are welcome to the new jobs on offer.

CWU can't make Royal Mail give us the offer most of us want and isn't going to bend over and accept ridiculous change. It's up to Royal Mail to see sense. They haven't and they won't.
