Hello Simon glad to talk, the union didnt rip up anything i think you will find you did that, actually if you had made a sensible offer in the first place we could all just be getting on with what we do best, delivering to the whole country everyday, but no you decided you knew best and would have a showdown with the workforce and there representatives the CWU. Hows that going for you! Look Red if all you have is union/postie bashing rhetoric its a pretty narrow minded view, me i am a open minded individual who if the arguments right i will agree with you but so far you have nothing, zero, zilch to offer apart from its "all your fault" with no real substance apart from "its your fault" and its pretty boring to be honest, but you go ahead and keep championing your cause and we will keep taking the Pi$$.

Exactly. A pay-rise is negotiated and not guaranteed on a piece of paper

The agreement was that any pay deal is negotiated and agreed with the union before being implemented
It wasnt
So the agreement was broken by Royal Mail
You may also remember that the management voted to take strike action too around this time too.......

The payrise was negotiated. Royal Mail said they could not afford it with the % demanded by the CWU
.
It was the CWU who instigated executive action in calling the ballot and tearing up the legal protections

Exactly so the CWU instigated executive action with a strike,
The employer does not have to agree any pay demands
The employer does not have to agree any pay demands

If you look at the Postal Services Act 2011 - the section where they talk about "postal adminstration orders" - they keep referring again and again to "the company." When they drafted and passed it, Parliament obviously never imagined a situation llike this. One past of IDS being placed in the government's hands and the fun parts remaining private.
Again, I really doubt they want to deal with this. Their poll numbers are underwater, May elections are fast approachingn and this isn't an "emergency" emergency one. Just a cooked up one.

The opening of the talks this week were made even more difficult by RMG taking Executive Action on the separate issue of pay.

Other bosses of other companies must be looking at this as some sort of precedent. We can't roll over and let companies start doing this

Yes and in the previous agreement between the CWU and Royal Mail Management had been linked to inflation which Royal Mail loved to go along with when Inflation was 1.6% yet when it went up to 10% suddenly this previous agreement was null and void. How very dare working class posties get ideas above their station and hope to close the gap on our annual wage of £25,000 which is less than a sixth of Simon Thompson's bonus
