Re: Are you planning on jumping before we're all pushed?
The amount of people who post that all they want is the government to take it back?
Do you REALLY think that that will be the dream end???
Do you REALLY think that the government are even remotely interested in having Royal Mail back in its coffers?
If you do then you are totally living in LaLa Land. From Day One the government will be seeking to re-offload it, either to buyers or investors......and whichever one happens, the whole sh1t scenario that has been happening since 2013 will start all over again, as there is only one intention of a buyer or investor....PROFIT.
The only way you can benefit from this job now, is to walk away from it, for what you see now is the FUTURE.

Re: Are you planning on jumping before we're all pushed?
They will when they get lots of complaints from their constituents about having to pay probably at least £5-10 just for a single letter. They'd never be able to offload the letters side alonepriority102 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2023, 18:51The amount of people who post that all they want is the government to take it back?

It sound also be a huge political headache for the government to. It will be the last thing they will want before an upcoming general election l.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Mar 2023, 19:29They will when they get lots of complaints from their constituents about having to pay probably at least £5-10 just for a single letter. Re: Are you planning on jumping before we're all pushed?
Nearly 25 yrs service, i've got more than half an eye on other things, problem is most other semi-skilled jobs have the same problems we don't want like annualised hours, "flexible" attendance, s**t holidays and sick leave etc.
Also, i'd be pretty sure the administration thing will be a way to force open the door to changing all our contracts and quashing any agreements. We can't just not exist so if they can persuade enough people that starting again with completely new ( ie much shitter ) terms is the only way we survive the Govt won't object. And lets face it, the CWU can't find their arse with both hands right now so watch this space.

Re: Are you planning on jumping before we're all pushed?
From what I've read it seems like if RM went into administration our contracts effectively wouldn't be worth the paper that they're printed on. they could bring in annualised hours, mandatory Sundays, everyone required to be able to drive (deliveries only), probably the axing of all allowances, maybe the axing of paid breaks. There's probably other stuff as well that they could effectively just force through and there's nothing that we or the union could do about it.TheCommieChef wrote: ↑27 Mar 2023, 21:02Nearly 25 yrs service, i've got more than half an eye on other things, problem is most other semi-skilled jobs have the same problems we don't want like annualised hours, "flexible" attendance, s**t holidays and sick leave etc.

I do have to wonder if it's RM's plan to go into administration to be able to tear up our contracts

Which is why the most plausible result will be an agreement to scrap the USO and let RM get on with their plans.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2023, 20:18It sound also be a huge political headache for the government to. Re: Are you planning on jumping before we're all pushed?
Except that under a administration scenario, the BOD will no longer be in charge of 'royal mail'. Unless someone like the Czech guy wanted to buy it out of administration for a low price, not unknown to be a nominal £1 , and then appoint them all again that is.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Mar 2023, 09:45From what I've read it seems like if RM went into administration our contracts effectively wouldn't be worth the paper that they're printed on. they could bring in annualised hours, mandatory Sundays, everyone required to be able to drive (deliveries only), probably the axing of all allowances, maybe the axing of paid breaks. We should be explosively furious at the prospect of any metaphorical axe coming down on our necks. The French had and have the right idea.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Mar 2023, 09:45probably the axing of all allowances, maybe the axing of paid breaks.

I'm not giving them the pleasure of leaving, they can make me redundant and pay me off.
In the mean time I'll keep cutting off and bringing loads of mail and parcels back every day now.

It's the only way sad as that may be but if you want to keep your sanity we have very little choice.

Re: Are you planning on jumping before we're all pushed?
Completely agree, a few weeks since quietly quitting I’ve never found the job easier than it is right now. If RM goes down I’ll deal with it then but until then I’ll do no more than is necessary
