You have no choice if you like using that equipment or not
That's true. However the waters would be muddied a trifle were it to be that managers knew of widespread non-compliance with a H&S requirement and did nothing about it. Which I suspect is true in many offices. It of course doesn't mean the individual concerned would not bear blame, but if, for instance, a LWT was not in their van, and they reported that and one was not supplied and they were told just to use bags . . .
Just obeying orders will not work
The Employee knows the use of delivery equipment is mandatory yet choose to ignore it.
Any manager will just deny it anyway unless in writing
I agree. just obeying orders is 'bloody minded'.
But many situations are more nuanced than that. And while a manager may deny anything they choose, they may do so in the face of witnesses to the contrary. Also, while a robust individual may stand their ground and refuse to deliver without a LWT, others may buckle under pressure and effectively be coerced into non-compliance with the H&S policy. This happens more often than one might like in delivery offices.
I bet there arnt many if any in processing cutting corners and its happening there too, happy to be corrected if people are?
It's a right s**t show with the yorks of large that come in from other MCs. A right mix of large and small, Tracked and non-Tracked and it's near enough a dead cert that you'll get at least a couple of yorks with SDs on them as well. We sort normal large and Tracked large together, don't think it'll end up being too long before they have us doing the same for normal smalls and Tracked smalls
Thing is YOU and YOU are responsible for using the equipment if the equipment is not present get the manager on it and don't do it till they get you the equipment!

One thing I’ve learnt over the years is there will always be the p****s that come in early, never have a break, cut corners, nothing will ever .. ever change that. Not even the s**t show we’re in now lots of people still doing it at our office.
I’ve said many times before and I’ll say it now “ we are, and will always be our own worst enemy..” in our office anyway.
if the cwu instructed us to do the job "properly" using the example used in the vote above then the union would cease to represent us within a few weeks
we are well and truly fecked and it's damage limitation now and still feel the cwu will not be a very active part of rm within 12 months
Someone said about a work to rule you don't need a ballot to do that but a personal resolution. It is you to make that choice of just doing the job properly and it is you who needs to finish on time and you alone who of your own free will to do any more or not!
Unfortunately in practice it would require a ballot because if loads start doing it, RM could construe it to be unofficial industrial action
They could try and construe it all they want
Individual choice
Prove otherwise
f**k em let them call it what they like it couldn't harm negotiations any more than what's happening already

Well if they did fire people who legitimately did as their own right a lot of managers will be homeless!

because pt staff despite agreeing to be employed on a pt basis get 99% of the available overtime at ours, they won't do a "work your hours"
most are younger and on by far more money than a seasoned full timer, who is to blame for not sharing the overtime out fairly? take a guess, i know who i blame

The proof would be X amount of staff in a DO were doing OT each week but now only Y amount are doing it? I doubt anything can be more accurate than the company OT records!
Hahaha accurate company records!!!!
We all know how accurate they are.
Every office clear apart from the odd local issue, due to sickness.
