It's funny how everyone was raving about that MP who ripped the RM bosses to shreds at the select committee. The RM bosses must of been grinning inside....We have an MP here who is helping them to reduce the USO to 5 days

Employees are equally to blame?
I know of no postman/woman still with the sense God gave them, that would have done what various RM boards have done to our jobs in the last 20 odd years.
Incessant change, mostly just for change sake, has led to this 500 year old institution teetering on the brink.
No, my friend, posties, who are some of the hardest working people in modern industry, are nowhere near being equally to blame.

Whilst we like to think we work the hardest is there any real evidence we work harder than Amazon or DPD delivery drivers? You do sense the employers abusing sickness pay have created issues with that aspect of our T&C's, with the minority most likely ruining it for the genuine majority.DirtyHarry wrote: ↑26 Mar 2023, 20:47Employees are equally to blame?

ffs we ain't any other parcel company, they don't have to spend 5hrs walking the streets, they are in a warm or air-con van, absolutely no comparison
we have/had great t&c that we have fought for over the years that are been attacked, lose these and we will be worse than than the rest by a country mile

The reason we have so much change for changes sake is because without it the vast layers of overpaid management wouldn’t be justified.DirtyHarry wrote: ↑26 Mar 2023, 20:47I know of no postman/woman still with the sense God gave them, that would have done what various RM boards have done to our jobs in the last 20 odd years.

Re: Reps Online Briefing today...
No Amazon or DPD delivery person would walk 10-15 miles a day, as much as people think they are similar jobs, they aren’t. How many new starters over the years have walked away in the first week, not realising how physical the job is? And you don’t see many drivers for those companies over 30 years old,

Re: Reps Online Briefing today...
As stated previously,
Cutting the job up, abusing the sick
Angard staff get jumped on while managers walk past regular staff texting one their phones and just standing about gossiping
Not my job to do that mentality
etc, etc
It is all about productivity and work all paid hours
If a % of regular staff refrained from skiving dragging everybody else down, reliance on agency as a cost negative would diminished filling that vacuum.

No
But look after their interests as the CWU refuse that responsibility for a fellow worker, and current CWU members

Like the vast majority of my colleagues I work all the hours I'm paid, and we always have.redlen wrote: ↑27 Mar 2023, 18:46As stated previously,

As for productivity, in our revision the duty I cover was increased by 35%.
But this has made me less productive and the business less productive;
I now have to cut off for all special deliveries;
and because I have to prioritise parcels, I drive passed hundreds of houses that I could be delivering letters to but instead I deliver a couple of dozen packets and parcels.

Very inefficient I agree, today I brought back loops that I maybe could have done if it wasn't for branching off to do the Tracked on the other loops ( off the other paired duty that stayed in...again!)
