Re: RMCtv : Message from Ricky McAulay: CWU talks update
People who are hoping for the company going bust and into administration need to be careful what they are wishing for.
A lot of people have said they still have shares. Pensions will no longer be added to. Contracts will be torn up and rewritten and started again, probably without a union.

Exactly. Which is why striking now is beyond reckless. We should have been given the opportunity to vote on the previous offered deal.FilthyBloke wrote: ↑26 Mar 2023, 10:44People who are hoping for the company going bust and into administration need to be careful what they are wishing for.

If most people were happy to accept the previous offered deal then we wouldnt have voted to strike again would we? Use your brain.LouBarlow wrote: ↑26 Mar 2023, 12:08Exactly. Members were not offered a deal to even accept. Royal Mail kept on saying put it to the members to decide

If the choice is between a crap deal which hasn't got a hope in hell of being accepted and the company going to administration where they can rip up our contracts, have we really got anything to lose by striking part from pay on strike days?

Because it was unacceptable, and we know this because of what has happened since. Every week there is another unacceptable change.
And even if there was an agreement, and we just accepted whatever RM wanted to throw at us, we'd still be up against administration but with much worse working conditions.

But at least the members would have been put into a position to accept the agreement or not. They were denied this democratic right.
This dispute has now been hijacked and any settlement dependent on the reinstatement of reps currently suspended or dismissed.
They have a separate appeals process and should play no part of the negotiations to rectify the original complaint on the Ballot paper.

Come on, this latest proposal whatever that may have been would never have been voted in going off all the EA action that is still going on plus all the added stuff it would have contained absolutely pointless putting it to the members.
I do agree the suspended Reps etc bit should be dealt with separately and form no part of the overall deal in fact I think I read that is the case now and the CWU are happy with this part.

If the members were happy with what Royal Mail were offering “best and final” then wouldn’t have voted overwhelmingly to take more action
If it came back that we weren’t prepared to take more action then you would have a point of putting that deal to us but the union knew it wasn’t a deal most of us were prepared to accept so why waste time putting it to us in a vote? Especially when the reason RM were wanting it put to us was because it would have halted the Christmas strikes whilst the process was ongoing

Re: RMCtv : Message from Ricky McAulay: CWU talks update
Till the whole rotten lot at the top is gone there is no deal that can be done or trusted to be abided by it's like sending Neville chamberlain to Munich and ask for peace talks and comes back with a piece of paper saying that we have peace in our time all 11 Months of it. The people at the top of ROYALMAIL are more sinister than those that led the German People to it's ultimate defeat in 1945 the parallels of how you manipulate people is so uncanny it has to be seen to be believed OPEN YOUR EYES!

Maybe you should take your own advice. My ballot paper didn’t say ‘vote for the deal’ or ‘vote to strike’. Did yours?Acca Dacca wrote: ↑26 Mar 2023, 12:18If most people were happy to accept the previous offered deal then we wouldnt have voted to strike again would we? What right? Our democracy works on the structure of electing an MP to make decisions for you. They don't refer to you every time they have a decision to make.

If you were happy with the “best and final offer” then why would you vote to continue strike action?
