You have answered your own question why it wouldnt and couldn’t be 52 weeks of the year we work extraredlen wrote: ↑25 Mar 2023, 10:24
Contracted hours would not change
An example being you could work six hours a day in the summer when traffic is light, and 10 hours a day in the winter when heavy with a 40 hour contract

And why not 52 weeks of the year as contracted hours would not change?
And a 40 hour week was just an example
And a 40 hour week was just an example

Re: LTB 080/23 - ROYAL MAIL GROUP DISPUTE - NATIONAL ONLINE BRIEFING
Please explain your reasoning
You are contracted 40 hours a a week over a 52 week period
Longer contracted hours in the winter and shorter contracted hours in the summer, but still averages 40 hours a week

The annualised hours , a sceptic topic, I imagine that all walks will be forced to complete every day, no cutting of, this is what RM want, and before the barrage of reasonable arguments about this, I have no doubt this will be implemented, not maybe initially but it will be brought in.

Re: LTB 080/23 - ROYAL MAIL GROUP DISPUTE - NATIONAL ONLINE BRIEFING
Because for you to do longer weeks you would need shorter weeks
So how could you do longer weeks 52 weeks of the year?

Annualized hours will replace the 40 hour contractual term over a five day week
The 40 hours a week will be averaged out over 52 weeks of the year
So the original 40 hours contracted will not change

Re: LTB 080/23 - ROYAL MAIL GROUP DISPUTE - NATIONAL ONLINE BRIEFING
Nobody is on 40 hours a week. The new proposed full time contracts are less hours but based on the 40 hour week rate rather the higher hourly full time rate for 37 ( since full timers kept same pay for less hours ) that current full timers went down to
No matter, spreading hours over the year still results in doing less hours some weeks and more others. So how can you be doing extra 52 weeks of the year?

Re: LTB 080/23 - ROYAL MAIL GROUP DISPUTE - NATIONAL ONLINE BRIEFING
It depends on what your current contracted hours are
And as stated previously, 40 hours a week was just an example and a full time employee
As long as 40 hours a week is averaged out over the financial year there is no issue
They have been planning this for years hence annual leave now done on contracted hours and not days of attendance

This reps reinstated nonsense HAS to stop. Rep suspensions should not get in the way of talks or a deal. The union should help any members being suspended. This reps situation should be dealt with seperately. Independant reviews seem fair enough. If they have done somehting wrong then goodbye. Stop letting the reps situation get in the way of talk FFS

Thing is reps disciplinary measures are done outside of normal disciplinary procedure with a national Appeals Panel.
As you say it should have no place in the current dispute and only the contents of the Ballot paper

Re: LTB 080/23 - ROYAL MAIL GROUP DISPUTE - NATIONAL ONLINE BRIEFING
And yet the Working Time Regulations say days of attendance as in 5.6 weeks with annual leave

If thousands of us as it is stated on these discussion pages are finding it difficult to finish on time at this time of year, ie over time dailly, how are most workers expected to Finnish" early in summer" and "later in winter" these annualised hrs.., that are expected to be implemented, are going to be a great concern to us all
