as a ex rep who had to stand down due to ill health ive decided to stand unopposed as a workplace rep again as with this new agreement in place needing loads of local agreements on loads of issues took the hard decision to stand again to make sure my colleauges are not screwed over by our DUM

I have just taken over from the last rep and am now starting to regret it.
Hopefully i am going on a course on how to do the job soon as at the moment i am about as much use as a chocolate teapot.
I am not as anarchic as you lot seem so not sure this will stand me in good stead.
Seems that as soon as you go off for your meeting with the manager you are accused of coluding and after the perks ,whatever and wherever they are.
I have found that i am the mediator between managers who would like to make viscious cutbacks and workshy colleagues who come up whining about their workload totally ignoring the fact that i am falling way behind everyone else and then when i get to my frame i am ignored as they go out on their rounds and i am still throwing in, and when i get back they have all buggered off home.
Also the hot heads in the office who have private meetings with manager over changes and the protection of their own rounds make me want to chuck the whole lot in and to say Sod you all.
The last rep packed it in as as he put it "it was doing my head in".

bedford mate, this is the time when you find out how strong a character you are. You became rep because? The manager picked on you and you know he was full of s**t, he opens his mouth and lies come out, he picked on your mate and you feel protective towards her/him? Well no! he didn't pick on her because he can be done for sexual discrimination(sozz ladies but it's true and if you don't use your power in the RM/PC world then more fool you) Bedford, if you gag on lies, half truths misinformation etc. and you want to fight back, make yourself known at the branch, get involved in meetings, give up you own and your family time, be prepared to spend years building up the support of your workmates and when the call comes lead them on the picket line. On the other hand if you don't have to many years invested in RM, go to night school and get a life--------------KAWAK
