If we agree a naff deal to avoid administration then it should be a condition of the deal that the current Royal Mail board have to resign. They've messed up so badly it's genuinely unbelievable, they can't be allowed to lead us forward after all of this.

I think the people advocating that DO get it
They just wouldnt want the job anyway if the bosses get their way
thousands are leaving in ther droves as it is
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Solidarity BS. So they would rather the 100,000 or so colleagues they have, loose a job many of them NEED in whatever incarnation they come up with, than RM getting their way?
As long as you still have a finish time the job ain't gonna change drastically. How can it?

Re: Martin Walsh has provided an update 24/3.
How much redundancy will I get if my company goes into administration?
For each full year you've worked for your employer, you get: up to age 22 - half a week's pay. age 22 to 40 - 1 week's pay. age 41 and older - 1.5 weeks' pay.
that's 10k for me so either way i'm not bothered (although i realise its not great for the young ones - sorry )

Doing our job as it is for not much more than minimum wage is a line in the sand for many nevermind any of the changesrambo1 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2023, 17:01Solidarity BS. When I started our hourly rate was about £4 maybe even £5 more than minimum wage which reflected the physical nature of the job out in the elements
Now minimum wage has caught up big time and you add in the cost of living with inflation and you have many people questioning if this is a job worth keeping
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Um, you do realise if the company goes under,CRIBMAD wrote: ↑24 Mar 2023, 17:07How much redundancy will I get if my company goes into administration?

If your employer is insolvent
You can claim some of the money your employer owes you from the Redundancy Payments Service - this is a government service. You can claim:
up to 8 weeks’ unpaid wages
pay for annual leave - including annual leave you were owed but didn’t take
statutory notice pay
statutory redundancy pay - check if you’re entitled to statutory redundancy pay
Your unpaid wages include any statutory payments you should have been paid, for example statutory sick pay or statutory maternity pay.
There’s a maximum amount you can get for a week's unpaid wages or annual leave. If your employment ended on or after 6 April 2022, you can’t claim more than £571 for each week. If your employment ended between 6 April 2021 and 5 April 2022, you can’t claim more than £544.

A 500 year old public service & it's taken Vince Cable & his pals less than 10 years to bring it to it's knees.
An absolute disgrace.

As royal mail comes under the banner of IDS, who also have GLS and a few other companies, would just the royal mail bit going into administration trigger the same payout?CRIBMAD wrote: ↑24 Mar 2023, 17:07How much redundancy will I get if my company goes into administration?

The company won’t go under as you say the government can’t lets its postal service to go bust.2yearpostie wrote: ↑24 Mar 2023, 17:16Um, you do realise if the company goes under, there is no money to pay redundancy so you leave empty handed with nothing...CRIBMAD wrote: ↑24 Mar 2023, 17:07How much redundancy will I get if my company goes into administration?

Politically it would be a disaster for the government too.
You would probably end up with a government bailout who would then end up selling it on at a loss like it did with Lloyd’s bank.
