Everyone is entitled to work to time. It only becomes illegal if everyone is organised or told by someone to work to time I think? If everyone just took it upon themselves to not do overtime there would be no problems. I like many others do this without problem.

At last, a poster who has an understanding on the subject matter, and not personal opinions
Following the rules to the very letter, but seeking to be as disruptive as possible – literally, “to produce chaos so that it will not run as it should” – then that did constitute a breach of contract. This is where the malicious intent aspect that we mentioned earlier comes in.

Redlen, I'm reading you wrong probably, but scotchy has said , working to time ,ie Finnish time, doing your best , and still not finishing your duty, is not and should not be compared to work to rule, even with you truthful Law comments ,it's a different topic altogether END OFF.

I don’t know if you know but there is approximately 115,000 employees in Royal Mail so 300 comments on facebook isn’t really a good demographic of the sentiment of all the employees!toonshola wrote: ↑23 Mar 2023, 19:27There’s over 300 comments so far on the Facebook update. I can’t find one in support of the unions antics over the last few months. They have completely lost the membership, I would say it’s time for Ward and co to step aside but at this late stage what would be the point. Any clout the CWU used to have on Royal Mail is now effectively in the bin and it’s not coming back. I look forward to tomorrows shite update.
As was explained in the statement a few weeks ago Brendan barber set out a mandate for the talks stating at the very beginning absolutely no reporting on any issues from both parties (royal mail and the CWU) which obviously means while talks continue you won’t hear anything!
As the talks don’t include the narcissistic Simon Thompson and his cronies it was obvious he was just going to continue down the road of “our business to run” and we don’t know yet what the CWU have been doing to stop or try to stop this guy’s crazy behaviour which includes all the likewise spiteful management around the country who Simon Thompson completely through under the bus in the select committee grilling and they are still looking up to him as some sort of god! (F@#k knows why? Probably something to do with £4k he’s promised them?)
I have every faith in the CWU and what they are doing under extreme circumstances that I’ve never seen before in the 40 years I’ve been a postal worker remembering that the actual law is so anti-union that one slight wrong move the CWU make can basically end our dispute in Royal Mail’s favour then you will really get to see what these aggressive narcissists are really trying to do.
So let’s just give them a break and see what the update is

Trouble is if everyone does it whether organised or not it could be construed by RM to be unofficial industrial action.
it must be getting to the point where members are so pissed off that we might start to see unofficial walk outs in offices

In Royal mail favour? What does that mean or entail? What is the actual dispute that we have to win?
And the faith in the CWU is based on what exactly?
What is their end game? How do we judge the results?
The CWU are treating members like children!

Surely the CWU will be announcing strike dates in the next days, if not today.
How can you have talks with Royal Mail when the first thing they agreed to was to halt the revisions and allow reps to get involved in any changes... Royal Mail straight out lied in that joint statement, changes are going through, revisions are here and coming.
I thought the board of royal mail were involved in these latest talks/agreements..... are the board as untrustworthy as Thompson?!?!
It's strike time!
Royal Mail will never use common sense. Whilst other businesses and public services are agreeing pay and change deals, Royal Mail are still playing games.

I've always said this myself, absolutely no way should they be 'talking' with all this going on, Strikes should have been called and then when all this bulls*** was stopped and I mean STOPPED then have your cosy chats.norris9 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2023, 11:10Surely the CWU will be announcing strike dates in the next days, if not today.

Sad to say but the Union have thrown us to the wolves on this one.

Re: An update for Royal Mail Group members - Twitter 18:57 23/03/2023
Why does Royal Mail think it can get away with making the service worse by increasing the size of our rounds on top of already massively understaffing us. Wouldn't any fines from Ofcom for constantly failing the USO negate any saving made from reducing the service?
Do they think Ofcom will leave them alone?
Are the fines too small to worry about?
What happens if and when Ofcom increase those fines for repeatedly failing the USO?
I really think the Union should push for a 5 day letter service now alongside Royal Mail if things are that dire. If the government do not grant a 5 day letter service then the government might as well take Royal Mail back into public ownership on the cheap.

Even though personally have disagreed many times on policy decisions from the CWU?Martin Walsh wrote: ↑24 Mar 2023, 12:13It is not rocket science Chris, Royal Mail have a business plan which has a total cost sum attached to it. It is unacceptable to the workforce so the CWU have been negotiating to change and mitigate these change proposals and in doing reducing the predicted savings from the business plan.
In addition we want a decent pay rise which is either backdated or with a cash lump sum attached.
This means for Royal Mail they are saying that this potentially means when it goes to the city analyst to see if Royal Mail under the new agreement will still be a going concern going forward that the sum of the business plan is reduced.
That decision is vital and is linked to the independent auditors signing off the accounts and banks continuing to give Royal Mail credit etc.
If that does not happen then we are into a totally new arena of potentially administration.
This has an impact on our dispute as the board will be relieved of their duties and the government appointed administrator appointed who will have no interest in settling pay or mitigate change activity it will be to cut costs while delivering the USO.
This is the reason why the union has stayed in the talks. We not blind to what is happening in the field and units.
We genuinely believe an agreement as imperfect as it might be is better than no agreement. We also believe that the progress we have made on a range of issues including later start times and independent review into the flawed discipline cases are the best ways of resolving those issues.
However we are getting to a point that unless we get that agreement by the end of the weekend , we will have no choice but to take action even with all the risks as we can never accept some of the proposals still on the table.
In addition Royal Mail have a board meeting next Wednesday which is their deadline for any agreement due to their financial statement which has to be made on 17th May and it has to go through auditors etc before.
To say we are at the most serious situation in my 39 years in the job is an understatement and whilst I understand the frustration, do you really believe if we just wanted to be popular by announcing strike action and everything will go away ?
No it is likely that Royal Mail step up their executive action in a desperate last opportunity to reduce costs to satisfy those who they need to keep out of administration.
However we now are getting to that point when we need to test whether Royal Mail need an agreement more than some of their unworkable plans and this includes trials on Mail centres doing delivery offices on IPS and prep.
Those calling for action you will likely get your wishes but remember there are no options now without serious risks.
Am in agreement with Martin Walsh on this one taking out the negotiations.
Royal Mail is a regulated company responsible to not only the shareholders but current custodians of the USO. Any major organisational/financial change will have to go to both Ofcom and The Financial Conduct Authority.
Royal Mail need to submit a sound business plan in its annual report that normally last five years to justify investment/profit/loss forecasts.
These negotiations have a two edged sword.

If IDS is in such dire straits.... why hasn't the share price tanked?
Its up 16% in the last 6 months and unchanged today. Seems a bit odd given that it supposedly could be in administration in a couple of months.
