I read someone would be happy with 5% pay rise!!! No no no. It’s a two year thing now so we want around 15%, half of that backdated to last April. As for unworkable revisions, that’s an individual choice if you want to go flat out and cause possible Ill health. The vast majority will take a leisurely stroll and bring loads back. The morale at our place has never been better.

Even the CWU have laid off the blame game of paying shareholders hundreds of millions this time last year. That money has gone and the company have shown they won't be shamed into giving the workers a fair deal.
We had a strike mandate in 2020, but the union wanted us to get into the blitz spirit. True enough, I certainly feel like the Blackout Ripper has been running the company. There was a race on to stuff your pockets and we were asleep in the Crystal Dome.
The machine stops.

Agreed, While the company was busy cynically cashing in and testing a 5 day week, our union bent over backwards to look good to the public, despite having a huge strike mandate. I am not saying we should have done any IA, but the union should have give notice to the company that they should not waste all that cash which was being made at that time. I just feel the CWU are just too naive and were far too slow to act. The company was very quick to give away all our hard earned cash instead of using it to truly modernise.
consequently we are now in a terrible situation.

Greed!!……at the end of the day the rich wanna be richer regardless of who they walk over (us) and regardless of how it affects people’s health. When you look around our world now, what a sad place to live in!

Where do you suggest the money for a 15% pay rise comes from?

I’ll be voting for the deal the union leadership, who have seen the company finances, and compromise a settlement, recommend I vote for. If you want to keep striking and take the company down, then good luck to you. The union won’t be announcing new strike dates though, as they finally realise that they are achieving nothing and making any pay rise going forward, even less likely.

The union should agree to the 5 day letter service that Royal Mail want and put it forward to government again.....

But the Union won't because it means less subs - less money for them.

I don't think a 5 day letter service will affect posties that much seeing as the workforce is depleted already, I doubt they'd be a need for redundancies.

There could be other factors involved in these negotiations that we know nothing about.

An example being?

It is well known that Royal Mail wants to end the collectively bargained agreement on giving of full-time release with the CWU area reps and above.

But that is just speculation on my part.

maybe some of the people in charge to take a f**kin pay cut!!! or strip away another 2 or 3 layers of managers that manage managers and the managers that manage them.

There’s no sign of any deal. But when and if there is one, and it will be s**t, I will be voting against it.
