Royal Mail is going to be the worst place to work in the country soon.

Supermarket workers are now getting a better deal than us.

Aldi has given its store employees the third pay rise in 12 months, joining other companies who have boosted wages.

The supermarket group will lift starting pay to £11.40 an hour nationally and to £12.85 in Greater London.

Depending on length of service, some staff could secure rates of up to £13.15 an hour. Retailers including Tesco have made similar moves recently as firms try to retain staff struggling with high living costs.

Meanwhile office workers now get to work from home at least some of the time and some businesses are going to a 4 day working week.
Spot on. A lot of posties were saying its not about pay. But as time goes on it will be. No pay rise in years and double digit inflation. It won't be long and people just won't be able to afford to work for RM especially as you say even supermarkets will overtake us on wages. And all the crap conditions are in anyway so I sence more posties are concerned about the pay now.

Supermarkets are above us now. Asda warehouse workers will be on just over £27,000 come May and they also get paid from day one on sick.

Yeah I'm off too! after 20+ years service. Got a new job and the TRAINING wage is equal to what we're on now.

Good luck everyone with your futures.

Good luck and all the best to you and everyone that has taken the decision to leave! I left in November after almost 20 years in a job I thought id be at for another 20, it was definitely the right decision for me though . It’s sad to see the way RM is going and the contempt they have for the staff, so many great people work there and they have no appreciation for them, really hope things turn out well for the people left!

Seeing as my DDA shift is going as part of the so called "revision", I'm now in the process of leaving via IHR. Not how I expected to finish my brief time with RM (9 years service), but the way things are going with my own health (long term neurological condition, which I'm still pushing to get more tests to rule other stuff out, 2 years down the line from onset), and the way things are going with the business, it's probably a better move for me, both physical health and mental health wise. Financially IHR will give me a bit of breathing space as well.

I will miss my work colleague banter though

This week I have been delivering to businesses, and the amount of people that look happy in their job is unbelievable. Buildings with a proper cafe, break room etc.. Everyone smiling and going about their day. Then I return to the office and everything back to normal. It really is becoming a depressing place to work

One from ours has gone to work for Amazon, he is earning more there than he did at RM (he has been showing off his payslips :mad ) he knows the area so well he is making a couple of hours everyday.
