Exactly this, the next morning they're throwing their toys out of the pram about how heavy it is and "someone should have got rid of these tracked in the afternoon" despite moaning for months about the agency doing "work we could do ourselves"Shadedpostie wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 18:56Think what they mean is they still would have to take it back out the next morning only this time it would be double mail.sixfoottwo wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 18:44Why's that? (And this is 3 of the 5 people I've worked with this week) refusing to help with sorting, taking their 20 minute break in office despite taking at least 30 mins of "just having a fag/ just grabbing a coffee/ just chatting to so and so" breaks while expecting someone else to put their work in, then doing the bare minimum when out (finishing a walk and having a ciggie for 5 minutes each loop, cutting off 40 minutes early and driving the scenic route back with a bunch of undelivered mail and packets that definitely could have been finished in time and still left time for a break)chickenwittle wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 17:49What do you mean hindering everyone? Our DO is back to "every postie for themselves," some fighting over overtime, others dragging their heels as much as possible and hindering everyone else who just wants to do the job and go home
I fully get the "don't give them an inch" attitude, but if you're deliberately bringing work you could have finished back for the next day to "prove a point," you're only really messing up yourself the next morning. Royal Mail make the job unnecessarily difficult as it is, don't make it worse

Haha no it doesn't, I don't want to have to argue every day with people who are openly and brazenly making the job look harder than it is... hence being annoyed at having to do it as a reserve who gets stuck on routes with people who are just wasting time. And it's not everyone, just had a glut of them this week and it annoys me as I just want to show up on time, do the job as specified, take my breaks and leave on time. I don't want to wait by the van for ages as the duty holder "doesn't trust anyone with the keys" and is sitting on a garden wall down the road smoking

They've said it by not saying anythingClappedoutpostie wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 20:10Where have they said this? The last video from Dave and Andy this week said we would take strike action if we had to.
4 weeks since the ballot result, 1 more week of talks 2 weeks notice of strikes must be given. The ballot is valid for six months and it will be 2 months into that period before any action can be taken.

Re: Update sort of.
It looks like we should have taken Royal Mails offer from the start as the deal we are going to get now is going to be worse.
18 days of strikes, lost overtime, all the revisions brought in.
CWU can say whatever they want, but they have shafted the postal staff with their continuous f**k ups in this dispute. People can stick up for them all they like, but deep down they know the truth.
I
Not a manager and I hate the top management and they’re running down and soon to be next asset stripping of the company. We are done for.

Plenty string it out in my office, come in late , fag breaks etc. , none of that changes my start / finish times , so it’s the managers problem not mine.Kenfandango wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 20:24Haha no it doesn't, I don't want to have to argue every day with people who are openly and brazenly making the job look harder than it is... hence being annoyed at having to do it as a reserve who gets stuck on routes with people who are just wasting time. With the CWU’s response today, I think it doesn’t take a genius to know that what’s coming is not going to be good.
They no longer shout about vote yes and win the dispute. They now talk about the dire financial state we are in.

They are going to need Comical Ali to try to sell any deal as a win for the union and its members.

Quick memo to the government: please take RM back into public ownership, with a good workforce we can bring in profits of £300 million a year, which you could use a % into helping rebuild the NHS say. And giving us posties priority hospital treatment ha ha. Can't see any deal now, CWU keep trying, but RM want to run it into the ground and have a total restart with tasty new conditions
International Parcel Despatch and Mickey Mouse letter courier service. Morale ? Ain't got any now, more decent posties leaving soon.

Re: Update sort of.
I honestly think the union will not want to call a strike because these last two weeks of no cvommunication, by the union who specialises in communicating
has only lost them even more support. I can’t name one thing that the union has done in this dispute to warrant support from its members.
The members who have supported them in giving them a record breaking yes vote. Loss of up to £1800. Mental stress and arguments with managers.

Chicken, if you want to give in , go in just do it.chickenwittle wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 18:14As much as I’d love to agree with you , it’s beyond strikes now and the union know that.Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 18:07If they are as near to bust as they claim it will focus them.chickenwittle wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 17:57It didn’t focus their minds in their busiest period of the year , it’s a bargaining tool in the background, nothing else I’m afraid
I bet you never suspected your user name would sum you up so perfectly.
I have my doubts like you and everyone else. But at moment, I'm still fighting and hoping.

Re: Update sort of.
Far from giving in , just being realistic unlike lots on here calling for more strikes ( which failed at Xmas ) in the middle of difficult talks , let’s see what the union put on the table first.enskied wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 21:08Chicken, if you want to give in , go in just do it.chickenwittle wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 18:14As much as I’d love to agree with you , it’s beyond strikes now and the union know that.Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 18:07If they are as near to bust as they claim it will focus them.chickenwittle wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 17:57It didn’t focus their minds in their busiest period of the year , it’s a bargaining tool in the background, nothing else I’m afraid

Re: Update sort of.
It recognises that the continuing revisions are unacceptable and calls for senior management to be replaced. Isn't that what we want?
I'm not sure they'd be helping us win this dispute if the union lay out their industrial relations strategy for the Royal Mail negotiating team to take advantage of.
However I can't say I disagree with anybody wanting to strike. I agree that the CWU have already helped created a job which only the younger workforce can achieve without considerable physical consequences. I hope they have the necessary brains and brawn to take the lead. I'm not at all sure but I live hopefully.
It's a whole new ballgame this dispute. The CWU are dealing with wannabe disruptors. Must be a right drag to be near them for a second , let alone days at a time.
The fly in the Boards current plans is that it's now on parliamentary record that they have managed a systematic failure of Royal Mail.
The select committe summoned a member of the board on the second session just so that everyone at the top can be seen to have lied or be incompetent.
Ofcom has had so much evidence shoved publicly right in in it's cake hole, even it has to do what it's meant to.
I don't know. Just thinking out loud. I always thought the USO issue would bring this crock of shite management plan to an end. I think the board will have to change tack and sacrifice the management or get hit with hopefully massive sanctions.
