P*SSED OFF POSTIE!!

Post by pastyno1 »

Hey all
I am fuming!
ankle has been killing me on the round for the last week, been getting worse so thought i would go see the physio at the A + E,
He tells me that i have got Tendititus (my tendons by my tibula are screwed) and i shouldn't put pressure on my leg for a week or so and rest it with lots of ice etc or it will be put in a cast to stabilise it (not good)
BUT i can do light work like ips or anything where i am not moving around to much,
He wrote me a note to give to one of the Screws this morning, saying that he advises that i don't go out but its fine to do other things indoors,
So i go in this morning give the gaffer the note and.... sent home! what a fcuckin joke,
I went up to him again with my rep and said "look, i can prep my frame, and do anything in the whole building that isn't walking for miles" He said the only way around this was to get 4 people to do my round FOR FREE as to prove flexability works, i just laughed at him, really had enough of that place,
Only been there 6 months so not gonna get paid either

How long do you have to work there before getting paid?

Myther for an ATOS appointment

Post by andy2007 »

This is rediculous! You have provided them with evidence that you are fit to do some work, yet they send you home without pay!

I recommend that you start mythering your DOM for an ATOS appointment, otherwise they will try to give you a stage one, if you aren't allowed back on you duties within two weeks. If you keep a record of these attempts, and any correspondance or phone calls. You should be able to use it in your defence, should it come to a Stage warning. As it will prove that you were ready, willing, and above all determined, to work.

Also, you could try taking things higher than your local Rep., if he/she can't get them to honour their duty of care, by providing light duties for you. You should ask your Rep about claiming back your lost earnings. I don't know wether you have any legal right to do so. But I would like to think that you would.

Dont you believe it mate . In the last six months they've sent two home in our office for the same sort of thing
. one had 10 years and the other 15.

I wonder if the union bods at HQ have thought of using the Freedom of Information Act to investigate how much Royal Mail is wasting in such instances. They could also use it if they wanted to investigate sickness rates from pre SDD to now as I am sure that sickness levels have increased locally.

Also with former Postie Alan Johnson wanting to have a well note culture instead of a sick note one, RM are not exactly jumping on that bandwagon are they.

This is strange RM are usually trying to get you back to work on light duties when your own GP signs you off sick. Your doctor states that you can do light duties but you are sent home. What it RM playing at?

You have to go through EHS for light duties,it does not matter if you have a doctors note.
The thing is,and we complain about it a lot on here is,if a manager lets you work, regardless of what he gets you to do he is liable if you get worse while at work.
What EHS says is set in stone,so what you have to do or should of done,is go sick but ask to see the EHS,they would of probably santioned light dutys.
The only problem is it takes a while.
In an ideal world the manager would be able to use some common sense, but for legal reasons he can't.

So,and it pains me to say it,but the manager is right.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
