Will it be extra busy for us??

Parcelforce Worldwide Saturday Operations In Connection With Mothers Day 2nd March

Regional organisers were notified last week that discussions had been taking place between the Union and PFWW regarding the above subject and that the business had anticipated that there were insufficient volumes of traffic to require an agreement for additional incentives to encourage volunteers for overtime on Saturday 1st March 2008.

The Regional Organisers were advised by my department to notify depot representatives to negotiate through the normal manpower planning meetings for the level of overtime required in each depot for Saturday 1st March, in line with our existing arrangements/terms & conditions.

Since that time further discussions have taken place with the business and it has now been agreed that there will be a need for additional resource this coming Saturday 1st March and an agreement has been reached.

We hardly got any flowers coming through for Valentine's day.....definitely down on the previous year. I think they must be using courier services.

Or the ones left outside the door (sometimes the wrong ones) and the ones that don't get delivered at all

Although there aren't as many as last year (so far), the flowers have already started arriving. I just wish that they would learn to secure them properly!

We had several damaged in transit yesterday, because they weren't held on the pallets properly, and fell off. So of course, we will end up getting complaints from the justifiedly upset recipients. Does it never occur to them, that Mail can get damaged before it gets to us?
Why don't the customers ever take the blame for this type of thing instead of telling the recipients that it's our fault?

It took a while securing them properly, so that they could be taken to the Segs for sorting (at the other end of the building). As if we don't have enough to do already!

No, as it's a very small proportion of the mailing. The trouble is, that when it's coming in by Artic. Even a small proportion, still ammounts to a couple of dozen items. That's the upsetting thing: it may only be a small proportion of a load, but it's still 20 or so people, who will get damaged flowers for Mothers Day.

Most of them survived the pallets falling apart (3 pallets to be exact), but it took about 15-20 minutes to pick them all up, so we could sort them. It could so easily be avoided, if they put enough shrink wrap around them, or better still, put them in RSCs.

We have complained to our Manager, and in previous years to Mail Verification (MV) about this as well, but it happens every year. Why can't we just send the damaged ones back to the Customer for replacement, rather than just accept that the load isn't bad enough to send the whole thing back?
Instead, we try our best to repair the packaging and send it on with an apology. Which is far from ideal, when people are expecting a beautiful gift from a relative.

We got hammered today,double the amount of packets along with the flowers.
Could be a bad end to the week.
But we cleared them 'Spanish practice' stylee
