Backdated Pay Guessing Game

Post by CHUCKYPIG »

Who can guess closest to the amount of backpay that we end up getting?

I'll stick my neck out and say £300.

In an ideal world for 2022/23 we would get a 10% pay rise backdated to April 2022 which would be more than £2,000 for many of us..... but there is almost zero chance of royal mail being that decent. It is no doubt more likely that we will get nothing.

So I'll go with £300 as a guess.

No chance I’d say 200 lump sum and then 5percent from April and another 5 percent next 2 years depending on profitability of business.union are already siding with Royal Mail who claim they are close to a financial crisis so basically we will accept something like this or else they will pull the plug on any deal

I don’t think we’ll get a (additional to the 2%) pay rise for 22/23 but we’ll get a lump sum of £600 or so, a figure better than the £500 previously mentioned, but also one that reflects the “perilous” financial state RM finds itself in. Then I can see a rise of somewhere UNDER 5% for 23/24. In exchange for this, there’ll be slightly adjusted start times, widespread revisions, some kind of mandated flexibility across the board, and a two-tier workforce between old contracts and new - basically everything the employer really wanted when they started from a preposterous position, previously.

No deal beyond that so RM can start their attacks again in 12 months time, as usual. Basically the same playbook as for the last 20 years as the job gets worse.

If it's not backdated to April 22, regardless of how much it is, I'm voting NO :nana

As long as the union endorse it it will go through mate. Most are tired of this dispute, union will say they are in a hard financial position and this is the best possible deal and people will agree

I think around £500-600 lump sump we already lost around £1800 in 22/23 because of strike so what ever increase is still need to recover those money first

I would think a £500 pro rata of course, lump sum with no back pay which would equate to circa 2% but of course would not have to be paid year on year, i.e baked in. Be lucky to get anything over 4 or 5% from April going forward. I'd say most of the change will be brought in over the next couple of years or the business will probably go under. Just being realistic.
