It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The Communication Workers Union
We are talking here about an agreement that will define the role for a generation. We are unpicking 12 months of hell. We have to get this right. And if we can’t then you know we have the mandate. The sea of attacks we have faced won’t row back in a few days. Keep the faith with your union.

Re: Update on Talks - Monday 13th March
Similar happened in ours just not as severe. Lasted about a week before they ditched the whole thing and reverted back to the old lapsing plan we’ve had for years. They soon change it back when people are being proving to them the workload is unacceptable & unachievable with mass-cut offs.sixfoottwo wrote: ↑13 Mar 2023, 17:48Trust me it won't last long! Our office had them dumped back onto our walks PLUS an extra 40mins Lapsing or whatever its called these days.mjd24 wrote: ↑13 Mar 2023, 17:39“Revision” currently being “planned” in my office and essentially looks like most jobs will be getting roughly an extra 50% delivery points.
We’ll supposedly be having our larger packets taken off us (we’ll see how long that lasts) but the idea of say an extra 500-700 delivery points to both prep and walk . . . frightening.
Managers and us posties alike know this “revision” will not work and even the very lightest of days will see mass cut offs - and yet its still being planned and within the next couple of weeks will be actioned.
Where is the union to fight our corner in terms of the obvious physical effects this extra walking will have on us? Not to mention the demoralising feelings brought about by going to work each day faced by a ridiculous and unachievable workload?
How on earth have we ended up here.
Anyway, do what we do.
1.Come in on time.
2.Take your breaks.
3. Work at a steady pace, don't rush.
4. Go home on time.
Rinse and repeat.
As much as Royal Mail would like to be able to get away with this - like they could do during covid -
they can’t now. Mass failures everyday WILL make them react and revise.

Yeah. Ask for that in WRITING please.mjd24 wrote: ↑13 Mar 2023, 18:02The difficulty is that we are still being told to prioritise tracked items. So youre faced with that dreaded time of day where you realise that youre gonna have to stop delivering any letters in order that you can just drive around delivering all the tracked that you have left for each loop.sixfoottwo wrote: ↑13 Mar 2023, 17:48Trust me it won't last long! Its easy to say “oh well Simons said we don’t prioritise parcels” etc, but when your manager is saying to your face each morning to make sure all your tracked are done even if that means bringing back thousands of letters . . . its just not that simple.
Otherwise, not complying.
It all gets brought back, including tracked.
All you are doing by doing the tracked is covering their back.
Like I said, ask for that in Writing that management want you to do ALL tracked regardless.
I would bet you a significant amount of money that they will refuse to do this.
They are trying it on pal.

Don’t believe you. Sorry.Shirtbuttons wrote: ↑13 Mar 2023, 19:54Well I’m afraid it is true. Ask someone what the line in the sand letter is.sindba wrote: ↑13 Mar 2023, 19:42This can't be true. Mental illness has gone through the roof.we are losing staff every week. The way it’s going hopefully I’ll be there to lock up and turn the lights out.ReturnToSenderrr wrote: ↑13 Mar 2023, 18:05Any truth in this? Overtime is voluntary. You simply cannot be dismissed for not wanting to do it.
Even if they did send this letter which I don’t believe they have, it carries absolutely no weight.

“Line in the sand” letters have been used in my office but for conduct issues like not completing vehicle checks on the PDA or failing to comply with SISO. Never been used for cutting off. Not yet anyway.

In law, wrongful dismissal, also called wrongful termination or wrongful discharge, is a situation in which an employee's contract of employment has been terminated by the employer, where the termination breaches one or more terms of the contract of employment, or a statute provision or rule in employment law.

This has to be one of Simon's rogue managers lol if you scan in in the morning and there is a set time you scan in by and a time you scan out by then you have a start and finish time.Overtime is not compulsory so line in the sand is utter crap,This is the first I've heard of this nonsense.norris9 wrote: ↑14 Mar 2023, 06:41If true, there's gunna be a lot of Wrongful Dismissal claims...thefox wrote: ↑13 Mar 2023, 20:19Its bollocks from your manager they can't conduct you for not doing o.t if you don't want to do it....line in the sand for f***s sakeShirtbuttons wrote: ↑13 Mar 2023, 19:54Well I’m afraid it is true. Feckin hell people, 7 pages of crap so far and counting. I know this is a posties discussion forum but if this is where we have gotten too perhaps its time to close it down! Some of the union bashing crud is just laughable and the rest really is laughable. Line in the sand letters..... are you on drugs, take said letter to any good employment lawyer and see how that gets on, the fact that some people actually believe some of this is incredible. As for the talks themselves, its obviously difficult to get a agreement that is good for us and RM, i am with a lot of your complaints about updates from the union but sometimes theres just nothing to tell. As for the hated revisions and unachievable workloads...... you all know the answer so whats the point in complaining, RM dont care wether you can finish in your time or not, they just dont want you finishing before your time and this is their solution. Go in on time, do your job as instructed, finish on time, if you want to work on knock yourself out i dont care. But to complain is just stupid RM employ you for a set amount of hours as defined by your contract and are perfectly within their rights to expect you to work said hours. When the union have some sort of offer you will have the opportunity to vote for or against it. Lifes to short for all this whinging and its all just playing into RMs hands.
