Ha, have fun!
Other half has been on training this week & it doesn't sound good. The walk rate is set at 4 miles per hour....there will be no changes. They are banking on an "Attendance rate" of 1.7%. That means that they think you only have to knock at 1.7 out of 100 houses with packets or signature required's. We wish, eh? Have they never heard of Ebay?
It just sounds like another stick to beat us with.
BUT, DON'T FORGET........do your job properly & eventually management will see the error of their ways!

Pegasus or Gio-route - whichever name they use - is a computer program that simulates a posties duty and in theory should equalize all duties. In reality its only as good as the information entered and needs a lot of local tweaking to make it fair.

Handout
• These guidelines should be used by CWU representatives wherever Royal Mail intends to use the Pegasus/ Geo-route tool for outdoor revisions.
Agreement with Management
• Before a Pegasus/Geo Route revision can take place the following must be agreed:
Release of CWU Representatives
• So as the revision can be carried out in the correct manner a CWU Representative (or nominated individual by the CWU) must be released so giving adequate time to work with management, assessing and evaluating information and finally producing an agreed office plan. This will be included in the Standard Terms of Reference.
Training
• The relevant CWU Reps will be trained on and familiarised with the system so they can understand where to look for the information that will be used. They must also be able to question the outputs from the system. This will also include providing an understanding and training on the A-Plus system.
CWU Involvement / Members Involvement
• All information to be used in the revision must be made available to representatives from the outset. It is essential that individual staff are given the opportunity to check their current walks making agreed changes where necessary (try to ensure that as the representative you are present at any one to one meetings regarding the members’ walks/deliveries). Ensure that all delivery points have been correctly positioned and that they are all within the map boundary.
• Members involved in Mapping Verification might for example identify a delivery point to one building that could in fact contain student flats with 10 delivery points. Members will also be able to ensure that the system is accurately identifying where the actual letter boxes are positioned on/in buildings, which can add to the workload for the walk/delivery route.
Our members’ local knowledge will make sure that current walks are accurately mapped. This ensures that any new walks produced have a sound base and changes can be compared.
Remember that any proposals covering a Pegasus/ Geo Route revision is subject to the terms of the National Industrial Relations Framework agreement.
Good Luck

Higher the walk speed and lower the call rate (our office is suppose to be 81%) entered = removal of walks
It is a tool to purely remove walking duties. You must all fight the call rate percentage as we did last year and it came out at 92% as an office average which is still not good or acurate enough as my walk was 96% so beware!!! coz its fixed

This can help reduce delivery spans, and is a pain for the manager, no exeptions, every delivery
Welfare Considerations
• Due to the potential for delivery staff to be away from their workplace for extended periods of time it is necessary to ensure that there is access to suitable and sufficient welfare facilities including sanitary conveniences. These should be identified as clean, secure and accessible to staff at appropriate times during the delivery. The locations of the designated toilet and welfare facilities should be clearly identified in the Duty Walk Log to ensure leave and duty cover employees are aware of their location.
• Permission may need to be sought from property holders and confirmed in writing in order to guarantee access at all times.
