The most ridiculous part was Dave Ward telling us that a resolution to all issues would be forthcoming by Sunday 12th March. How on earth they came up with that date I'll never know.
"I'll get you all the answers in about 10 days"

Jokers.
I also distinctly remember him being asked if we'd been 'had over' and his response was "No-one's had US over". I would beg to differ Dave but please prove me wrong!
"Just take it out and see how you go......."

Talks continued this weekend. Progress has been made in some areas and it has been agreed to extend the talks into this week.

We will update you as soon as we can.

Haven't we heard this for the last 6 months . Beyond a joke now .People in my office are struggling with mental health and anxiety. The revision is coming in regardless and People are losing rounds they have had for years .
The cwu have let members down. its just the same updates every time . Surely a line should be drawn and say enough is enough before the members do , and leave the union . Which I think a good many will anyway.

“Progress has been made in SOME areas”
That is a very downbeat line and implies that a deal is far from being reached. I'm really surprised how anyone could publicly declare 12th march as the day that both sides will come to an agreement. Unless one party waves the white flag, setting a specific date like that just infuriates people even more. I would imagine RM gave the CWU the impression by this date, an agreement would be reached and then refuse to strike a deal with the goal on infuriating members
It is likely purposeful from Royal Mail. It is a great tool to demoralise by giving the impression that a deal is close only to back out at the last moment. They realise that the union is reluctant to call further strike action, so they automatically have the upper hand in that regard too. The CWU is being played.
And to be fair to CWU, if that is the case, then what could they do if RM are not serious about negotiating, they have to give talks a chance even if RM are not serious. I think we may have to hit rock bottom before a deal is even realistically negotiated by both parties. RM's agenda needs to be played out before they want a deal

“Revision” currently being “planned” in my office and essentially looks like most jobs will be getting roughly an extra 50% delivery points.

We’ll supposedly be having our larger packets taken off us (we’ll see how long that lasts) but the idea of say an extra 500-700 delivery points to both prep and walk . . . frightening.

Managers and us posties alike know this “revision” will not work and even the very lightest of days will see mass cut offs - and yet its still being planned and within the next couple of weeks will be actioned.

Where is the union to fight our corner in terms of the obvious physical effects this extra walking will have on us? Not to mention the demoralising feelings brought about by going to work each day faced by a ridiculous and unachievable workload?

How on earth have we ended up here.

Trust me it won't last long! Our office had them dumped back onto our walks PLUS an extra 40mins Lapsing or whatever its called these days.

Anyway, do what we do.

1.Come in on time.
2.Take your breaks.
3. Work at a steady pace, don't rush.
4. Go home on time.

Rinse and repeat.

That’s more time indoors prepping and less time outside. Result.

It would seem Royal Mail are biding there time to get their revisions through then will agree some kind of pay rise.

It’s seems all revisions are going through unagreed
they know these revisions are going to fail anyway. they WANT them to fail. they KNOW they will. so they can go cap in hand to the government and say they can't manage the USO and they need to got down to 5 days. its as plain as day.

Correct, don’t worry about the extra work load, we don’t have to do it.

People getting in the Union’s back and threatening to pull membership will only help RM. If it is a deliberate play then you are falling for it.
Look, this has been a long, nasty dispute, it wasn’t ever going to be easy to settle so give em time to do it. I’m sure if the Union thought they were being deliberately delayed they’d pull out and announce more strikes so there must’ve been solid progress. What’s another couple of days if they can get it over the line. If you don’t like it then vote no. A little adult patience please.
As for revisions, just stick to your times and breaks. Ours has gone in, the office is never clear with almost all finishing on time and all good will gone. It doesn’t work but that’s RM’s problem, they’ve created it.

Has anyone seen the CWU twitter. The union have not got one message of support. How do they not realise that they have lost the room with their incompetence during this disagreement. I suggest everyone vote with their feet and get rid of the people at the top. The CWU is the worst union in this country and have been outplayed every inch of the way and has cost its members close to £2,000 each and the destruction of the job.

With the leaders of RM and the Union, we have no chance. Leave the union and get a new job as they both don’t deserve any of us.

The difficulty is that we are still being told to prioritise tracked items. So youre faced with that dreaded time of day where you realise that youre gonna have to stop delivering any letters in order that you can just drive around delivering all the tracked that you have left for each loop.

Its easy to say “oh well Simons said we don’t prioritise parcels” etc, but when your manager is saying to your face each morning to make sure all your tracked are done even if that means bringing back thousands of letters . . . its just not that simple.

Agreed…….they have a master plan and it’s going according to plan, string along the CWU, no strike dates, they must be loving this they have EVERYONE just where they want them. C’mon Dave announce strike dates, if it’s sorted then we don’t have to follow it through!!
