Anyone who ever supports this union again is deluded. They have been so damn useless at every point of this and will continue until the agreement is made and everyone will wonder what they strikes and lost money for.

The deal will be very close to what RM offered in the first place.
The union could have agreed to the pay rise and then continued to negotiate on changes. No one would have lost money and the changes would not have been so extreme.

That is a very downbeat line and implies that a deal is far from being reached. I'm really surprised how anyone could publicly declare 12th march as the day that both sides will come to an agreement. Unless one party waves the white flag, setting a specific date like that just infuriates people even more. I would imagine RM gave the CWU the impression by this date, an agreement would be reached and then refuse to strike a deal with the goal of infuriating members. A similar thing happened before Christmas...CWU basically took their word for it that RM seemed genuine this time and really wanted a deal. I personally think a deal will be made late Summer, before the Autumn pressure and once RM have all the changes in place

The most ridiculous part was Dave Ward telling us that a resolution to all issues would be forthcoming by Sunday 12th March. How on earth they came up with that date I'll never know.

It is likely purposeful from Royal Mail. It is a great tool to demoralise by giving the impression that a deal is close only to back out at the last moment. They realise that the union is reluctant to call further strike action, so they automatically have the upper hand in that regard too. The CWU is being played.

Local reps must be furious. As management continue to push through revisions without local union reps imput- the cwu say that both parties should adhere to the joint statement. They must be aware that local reps have been absolutely s--t on the past week. I'm not one to slag off the union as my previous posts would testify- but this really isn't good enough.

Totally agree, the deal will be the company 'best and final' offer that they came out with 4 months ago with a few knobs on to make it look better.

I might as well now quit the union and get myself an instant £3 odd pw pay rise.
