Exactly privatization isn't about service, its amazing how many people blame the union when the company's main goal is profit they clearly don't care about the service nothing is going to get in the way of making profit.

The CWU isn't going to do anything about the changes by the looks of things...

Where are the government, where are Ofcom.... do they actually care about the national postal service? if this is the beginning of massive change and Ofcom do nothing then that leaves the door open for Royal Mail to go down to a 2 or 3 day letter service if they so wish.

We have been running a 5 day service out of our office for 2 years as it stands and Ofcom are nowhere to be seen.

To be honest - I wouldn't care about a 3 or 4 day service....I'd happily work a 3 or 4 day week. 99.9% of posties won't though.

I think dropping Saturday letter deliveries is inevitable in the near future. The company will plead poverty to ofcom and it will all be agreed and voted through in parliament.

If we are all really honest with ourselves deep down we know a six day a week letter service isn’t needed the problem is how the company implements the changes.

Offering the big chuck of delivery staff a Monday to Friday working week and giving people redundancy who want to leave could prove quite popular.

Just offering only tracked and special delivery on weekends would entice more people to use those premium products.

Load of whingers so sad
I agree. It's embarrassing listening to the constant moaning. If you think you can do better then stand as a Rep. If there is an agreement you don't agree with, then vote no. Take more strike action.
Stop whinging and do something about it. You really do sound like a bunch of f***ing fannies.
Let's all hold hands and hug each other, perhaps it'll all go away.
Love to go on strike legally but the fannies wont call it i was happy to go all out from the beginning and we would never be in this place, your missing the point ,reps cant do nothing while headquarters try to appease both sides, its not going away thats why i maintain an all out is the only way, lets see if headquarters have the balls tomorrow.

I don't think it's going to too long before we start to see noticeable increases in the amount of Tracked letters and Tracked large letters/flats going through the system. We're already starting to see some passing through

That's exactly it. They would actually be surprised by the amount of people that would agree to this if they asked them. The issue is that people have zero faith in RM actually doing this effectively and fairly due to their past mistakes. But instead of basically asking people if they would mind working 4 days a week rotation or something else, they've just forced these changes through, which has pissed off a lot of people.

My delivery averages about 20 to 30 tracked items a day and I have a pretty big delivery. If I just took those out It would probably take me about an hour.

You could probably cover Saturdays with 25% of the current staff.

It's almost a guarantee if they start changing the hours to later on. That's exactly what Thompson basically admitted when saying "customers" want to order things a lot later in the day near midnight and have it the next day. Essentially that's piling on even more work for us, and they think we're that stupid enough to not notice.

There is something ironic about someone complaining about people complaining. But thanks for the insightful comment, I am sure you will eventually make one.
