Thankyou CWU

Post by guardianangel »

To the CWU ,thankyou for your lack of action and clarity, strikes should of been called long time ago your lack of action has led to this whole mess,in a weeks time our revision still goes in, a grievance what ever you call it has gone in and made no difference,6 walks collapsed all senior flat walks, senior men all done 20 to 40 years service displaced with only hilly walks left to pick, meanwhile young fit men part time only been there a couple of years made up to full time staying on cushy walks, spent years doing hilly walks gaining seniority and now with dodgy knees im right back to a worse place than 26 years ago,im feeling totally let down by our union and failing to address any issues,my rep basically saying there is nothing more he can do and he has been let down by cwu headquarters too, this is an attack on older long servers hoping they quit and its an absolute disgrace, personally id call it discrimination, ageism and shithousery so thanks again for your continued support,NOT.

Had a similar chat with our rep this morning and said exactly same thing, CWU letting members and reps down. Even went as far as to say maybe some backhanders were involved.

Does the office not have a full re-pick after these revisions? I'm sure I read something about it being triggered if so many duties are affected
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Just reject there deal
I bet it doesn’t need a large percentage to go through
Area should push for vote of no confidence in pec and leadership if proposals go through
Oh and to purposely put older staff out of the game when there are jobs available is blatant discrimination and would hold up in court
Over to you Dave

If there's a certain % (can't remember what % it is) of change in an office it should trigger a full repick I believe.

They stand for the post when there is a vacancy or the standing rep's tenure is up. They have to be proposed and seconded.
You have a ballot.
If there is only one candidate they are elected unopposed. (This is a weakness that needs to be addressed)
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

That’s my understanding too. From reading these boards most revisions happening now seem to consist of a certain number of walks being removed and that work being split up between all remaining walks which would result in the vast majority of duties changing so that should surely trigger a full repick but that doesn’t seem to be happening in a lot of cases.

Our revision hasn’t started yet but we are losing about 20 duties, every remaining walk is having work added and DPR’s are being introduced yet the rumour is no repick will take place. How are they getting away with this?
