If it’s a bad deal I no a lot of members who are planning on pulling there subs on Monday and just saving it up in a commsave account to spend at the end of the year and then just keeping there heads down now till retirement

Thats me to a tee and most of the over 50's in our office,save your subs and take your chances and keep your head down and find a decent employment solicitor in your area in case you need them.

Generally what the union advice normally gets voted in but there was one occasion I remember where the vote was a no one. Think it was 20 years or so ago for the way forward agreement.The second ballot was voted in after an improved offer.

I think it was the opposite way around, but it was a long time ago.
To my recollection, the majority voted not to strike in the ballot. I could be wrong.
Whatever the Union comes back with is the best they could get, and think it's acceptable to put to the membership, and we vote on it. If not then we will be striking. It could even be that it'll be put to us without recommendation by the Postal executive.
All this ..... I'm pulling out of the Union if we don't get this or that is just silly. The reason we are where we are is the majority of us are in the Union. Imagine what it'd be like if it was the opposite way around?
By the sounds of it, a lot of people on here have given up and are looking for excuses to blame someone.

It would be catastrophic for both RM and the CWU.

In that situation not only would Simon Thompson’s position become even more vulnerable / untenable, so would Dave Ward’s.

That's the way I remember it happening too, they negotiated what they considered a brilliant offer, we voted no, they, the union were surprised, they went away talked a bit more and they came back with a slightly improved offer and we voted it in!

Here here me too I wish more would have a backbone. I certainly won't be backing a shite deal.

This forum has shown over more than 15 years and multiple deals that even if posters are being genuine it doesn't represent the views of the majority of the membership.

Every poll we've run before a vote on every deal has been way off the mark.

The only remote possibility of a PEC endorsed deal being defeated is if some of the major branches especially in London step out of line.

Otherwise it's a slam dunk no matter what anyone on here thinks of it.

I don’t see how these talks can magic up an acceptable deal when the gulf between the two sides is huge. The way forward is announce a one week all out, bring the company to its knees. They might then start to realise they are nothing without a happy workforce.
