The office I’m in has a revision coming in that’s not agreed , unachievable and in lots of cases , completely unsafe.

It doesn’t comply with the uso as in the words of the planners and management, it will be “ managed failure”.

Management have also said that it’s too late to stop this revision and the reps seem to agree.

Members completely abandoned and left to come in and work either ridiculously long days or have an argument every single day.

It’s absolutely embarrassing.

No need to work long hours just do your contracted hours and go home ,
No need for arguments just say I will do my best then walk away , Bring back items you are not able to do .
Start on time , finish on time , take your breaks .

Exactly :thumbup This is the way to go. Posties in my unit have been told by the Rep, "Don't come moaning to me about your workload when you're STILL coming in early, working through your Meal Break and Cutting corners.... Finish on time and Bring It Back"! :cuppa

The Postman's prayer.

Start on time
Finish on time
Take your breaks; and
Bring it back.

Amen

So how is the “culture” in your office since this joint statement? At ours it’s got worse not better. Do we just have more of these “rogue” managers Thompson spoke about than other offices or is it happening nationally.

The revisions and changes have accelerated since the statement. Were managers offered a mega bonus if they got it all done within a couple of weeks? Seems like it.

A revision that doesn't involve a planner.
A rejig agreed between the manager and rep.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Yeah I already do all that and have done for years but not everyone is like that , some are bullied/pressured into doing it.

Ignoring health and safety rules around deliveries and not risk assessing their own revisions is absolutely stupid.

Our office enforced the new revisions this week, cunningly disguised as 'double lapsing', hence making 99% of duties impossible to finish. Oh and we're also back to prioritising this new 'lapsing', SDs and Trackeds over our own duties, being told to just bring back your mail if you can't complete. Didn't take long did it?

Royal Mail announces nationwide policy but essentially lets the area managers do what they like.
All they want is savings regardless of how they come about.
We don't even have an office policy, some rounds are untouched for years at one end of the office, whilst sections up the other end are constantly being rejigged without consultation.
Nobody has a clue what's happening from week to week.

One thing I know for sure is we took out 20 walk frames and made 50 rounds bigger in the last month because managers were told to rush it through whilst the CWU were being strung along in these pathetic talks

Came in this morning - big packets back with walks and everyone’s back in normal positions.

Revision reversed!

The word from management I’m led to understand is that this is for “today” as an attempt to clear up the mess that the 3 days of this revision caused.

Amongst other bizarre decisions that included sending crews miles out of their way to do the additional delivery’s they were given, it became quite apparent no-one had accounted for the extra vans that would be needed to run the DPR’s resulting in lots of large tracked repeatedly failing!

Fortunately no frames were moved / amended for “go live” on Monday - suggesting management at the local level knew it wasn’t going to work - but we’ll have to wait and see if there’s another attempt to move to a much more inefficient way of working!

It'll be interesting to see if the COM's boss orders them to re-implement the revision
